550 ml Bottle from Henry’s Market. Pours a chestnut brown color with a generous lacy beige head. The aroma is fairly light with sweet roasted malts, brown sugar and caramel. The flavor is rich with caramel, nuts, biter hops and toffee. The mouthfeel is just a touch thinner than I prefer, but it does build to a pasty-sticky-malty conclusion. The finish was long with lingering biter-sweet notes. Overall: A very respectable brown. I was kind of surprised to see that I had not rated this before as Ive probably had it a hundred or so times over the years. I consider it to be the middle standard by which to judge brown ales. When I drink this style I always ask myself is it better or worse that S Smiths nut brown. Consider this required drinking.

[550ml bottle.] Reddish copper with a thick cream head; strong caramel aroma; malty caramel flavours with hints of toast and coffee grinds; and a dry, smoky and nutty finish.

Light brown with a thin whitish head. Sweet and nutty aroma, burnt caramels. Not as sweet tastes, very very nutty almost smoky maltiness with a big lasting grassy hoppy finish.

550 ml bottle. Very smooth as typical of the brown ales, but also has some porter and even slight stout like notes. It’s a very solid beer for a nut brown ale, and the sweetness does fade on the aftertaste. There are nice flavors of malt and of course some nuttiness with maybe a hint of chocolate. Very easy drinking.

Copper color, slightly cloudy. Mostly clean aroma. Somewhat sweet and malty with definite flavor of crystal malt. Hop flavor at the end. Definitely a good beer.

550ml bottle.
Red-brown beer with a strong creamy tan head. Nutty, caramely sweet aroma with some smoke. Sweet full smokey flavour with some syrupy sweetness and a good bitterness as well. Slightly floral finish. Well rounded beer.

Like a Porter without all the work! It’s almost like a great, smooth brown ale was mixed with a hearty porter or stout and this was created. It’s easy to sip at with an aroma and nutty chocolaty flavor that comes on slowly after the sip is downed. It’s a warmth that stays with you. It is sweet like any other brown ale, but still retains a great amount of smokiness.
