Foxbush (452), Richmond, Virginia, USA Jan 1, 2009 Christmas 2008 Ale. This brewer has some great brews. I am generally not a brown ale fan. the ale poured a light brown with a nice head that satyed with the beer. Modest carbonization and medium body. Some sweetness in the aftertaste. BOLTZ7555 (1053), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Dec 28, 2008 Nice chestnut color with a solid walnut colored head. Aroma roasted malt, toasted nuts, and a little toffee. Definitely can sense the english influence here. Flavor similar to the nose...highly drinkable but a bit thin. A good example of the style but not amazing. JamesD (192), Centreville, Virginia, USA Dec 25, 2008 An excellent brown ale. Pours amber brown with a nice head. Aroma of nut and sweet bread. Flavor is malty, smooth, with a nutty hint, mostly pecan. Yummy. scoth (267), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Dec 25, 2008 Bottle. Pours clear, medium brown, with a puffy two finer khaki head. Smell
s nutty, doughy, and somewhat metallic. Light body, smooth. Malty up front with pecans, apple, and toffee. Slight mineral edge. Well balanced with a mild bitterness in the aftertaste. clong83 (243), San Diego, California, USA Dec 23, 2008 I like this beer, but somehow I feel it is overrated a bit... Nose is nuts and malts. Flavor is the same, but a bit thin mouthfeel. Not bad, just not one of my favorites from Sam Smith. kidrobot (63), Sparta, New Jersey, USA Dec 18, 2008 Purchased the gift set and this was one of 3 beers in it. It has a nice taste but I cant see myself purchasing this ever again. Swalden28 (1441), McKinney, Texas, USA Dec 16, 2008 Bottle in a gift set from Market Street in McKinney, TX. Pours a nice deep brown with tan head. Aroma is nutty, toasted grains, some fruit notes, caramel, hops. Flavor is very much the same, caramel toasted grains, light sweetness, hops, nice small bitter. Mouthfeel is medium body, high carbonation. Overall, a very enjoyable, easy to drink brown ale.....good stuff! Ceebs25 (217), Naperville, Illinois, USA Dec 15, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pretty mellow aroma, but there is a nice light butternut caramel malt, and a very minor hop presence. Very fizzy, bubbly tan white head on the pour that leaves entirely, fairly light looking with a maple syrup like color, not incredibly appealing appearance. The beer seemed a little off balanced toward the malty side, but this discrepancy improves as the beer warms and a couple subtle flavors come out, light, yet some buttery nut, cookie and caramel malt, and a tingling piny leafy bitterness in the end and finish. This one grew on me slightly as i continued drinking it, still not enamored by it though.
