ontheroad (25), Buffalo, New York, USA May 2, 2008 Pours with a fair head and a dark brown/amber color. Has a nice nuttines in its initial impression, with smooth tobacco follow-up A good example of the style. NosirIwont (1162), Aalborg Vestby, Denmark Apr 30, 2008 Bottle. Pours a clear brown with a light brown head. Some lacing. Sweetish malty aroma – not too overdone. Slight notes of hops and wood. Bitter hoppy flavour with malt in the background. As it warms, it becomes sweeter and more malty, and notes of bread appear. Finish is sweet with a lingering bitterness. Dry. Notes of apple and faint cereal notes. A slight sourness. 30-04-08. omhper (12155), Stockholm, Sweden Apr 29, 2008 Bottled at Bishop’s Arms Vasagatan, Stockholm. Pours well... nut brown and clear with rich firm head. Aroma of toast, hay and molasses. Sweet with clean mouthfeel. Some drying grassy hops with notes of paper and syrup. Gerntly roasty with a touch of pears. Low to medium bitterness in a drier salty finish. BigBang (210), Indiana, USA Apr 28, 2008 Pours just like it looks in the bottle with a decent frothy head. Aroma doesn’t really stand out and flavor is as expected but doesn’t blow you away. Nothing stand out about the palate. Good brew but I wouldn’t reach for it somewhere with a broad selection. yarry (370), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada Apr 27, 2008 550ml bottle, 5.0% a/v
Pours cola colour with a dense tan head. Nuts, chocolate, and roasted malt on the nose. Tastes unusually hoppy for a nut brown, mild nuts in there, but a hoppy dark malt flavour is predominant. Very nice though! Lothore (276), California, USA Apr 27, 2008 A- Pours a deep reddish hue with a foamy eggshell colored head that retains well and leaves behind some lacing.
S- Very pungent, deep earthy smells of nuts and wheat come to the forefront of the odor.
T- Completely nutty taste with a dash of roasted malts. Very smooth all the way through. Taste lingers beautifully on the palate for a while.
M- Smooth consistency at first leading to a burst of carbonation at the end. Thin sweet film coats the inside of the mouth leaving behind wonderful flavors.
D- This beer is very drinkable. Easy to enjoy a pint just about anytime.
dutch23mp (160), Mount Prospect, Illinois, USA Apr 26, 2008 bottle flavor is not complex but very enjoyable lays on the palate very nicely. I may have served slightly too cold. As with the other poster I too am a big fan of the oatmeal stout. I did not figure that it would match that am not disappointed in the least Samuel Smith makes a great product, short head gives is a little lower mark. kpresley77 (133), Jackson, Georgia, USA Apr 26, 2008 Updated: May 31, 2008Bottle. Pours dark brown with slight white head. Aroma is malt and nutty. Clean crisp malt flavor with slight nutty after taste. Good brown ale.
