Bottle poured into my trusty stein- poured transparent dark reddish brown with decent head that stayed around for awhile. Aroma of light toasted malt, nuts, and a snort of hops. Hits the mouth with a well defined medium body, malt has a very slight note of sweetness but is highly enjoyable, notes of nuts throughout, finish has a nice hop note. Solid sessioner.

Appearance: Pours a deep, garnet-hued body with a full, foamy, off-white head. Smell: Decently aromatic toasted malt aroma that certainly is nutty with light traces of hops. Taste: Smooth toasted maltiness with some roasted nuts and a light caramelly sweetness. Spicy hops with a light bitterness. The sweet tries to rebound, but ultimately the mild bitterness wins out on the relatively crisp finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: A decent, easily drinkable English Brown.

LCBO - Bottle: Huge frothy off white-yellow head with a ruby-port body. Aroma: Lactic banana, malt and nuts. Flavour: Malt, burnt caramel, some sourness, quite tangy with a long smokey tangy finish. There’s something I just can’t put my finger on that I am not liking about this...

550ml bottle from the LCBO. Pours a really nice dark ruby-brown with a large tan head. Aroma: Really nice chocolate nuttiness, walnut, a hint of hazelnut, very malty. This one smells just awesome! Flavour: Very rich yet subdued malts upfront, making way for a huge nutty finish, whoa. It actually almost has that same dryish feeling on the palate that a walnut does. A touch of anise and tar is evident as well. Usually I don’t really like brown ales, but this one is really good and a quintessential example of the style.

Flavor: hmm to sweet, a lil trashy a lil sour, no great rich flavors. this is a let down. Yeah, a sour dirty nickle tastin boo ale. do not waste time. Palate: fine. OA: not good, its sour and off and not worth while. not nut not brown.

Pours a crystal clear deep caramel maroon with just the tiniest little white head. Smells very sweet and syrupy, alot of caramel malt, a little butterscotch, and a touch of hops. The flavor is much of the same with more bitter hops becoming more evident in the finish. Still quite malty and sweet, but more bitter than I was expecting in the aroma. Some caramel and brown sugar round out the flavors. Decent brown ale, nothing jawdropping, but drinkable.

The color is dark brown with a nice thick tan head and lots of foamy lacing on the glass. Aroma is sweet and malty, albeit faint. Very well balanced flavors, malty, slightly sweet and a kick of spices and bitter hops that so many Brown Ale’s lack. Not overly sweet either. Way better than Newcastle...

550ml bottle, pours a deep almond brown with off-white head that lasts awhile. Smells sweet, almost like toffee. Light on the tongue, not overly complex but very smooth and tasty. Notes of burnt nuts, light hops, malts and toffee. It is not overly carbonated, which I enjoyed, and it’s very easy to drink. A very enjoyable brown ale, even if it is slightly less complex than some of the others.
