WillieV (191), Maryland, USA Dec 9, 2007 550 ml Bottle: Poured a deep amber color with a thick off white head. Mild aftertaste with a hint of hop. dkachur (2318), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Dec 9, 2007 Bottle. Pours burgundy. Brownish, fizzy head. Weak, earth aroma. Nutty, creamy taste, with smoky undertones. Not a fan. mcox90 (618), Wilton, USA Dec 7, 2007 550 ml bottle. Pours a dark brown clear color, like the color of flat cola, with a 2 finger off white head. Aroma is of molasses and nuts. Mouthfeel is medium. The initial sip of the beer is molasses. Then mellows out to more molasses and caramel with roasted malts. Another winner from Samuel Smith Gr0ve (1382), Oslo, Norway Dec 3, 2007 355 ml bottle. Dark brown with some reddish notes. Tall coarse off-white head that clings to the glass. Rasiny aroma with a strong hint of apples. Mellow texture. Feels somewhat dry, but there is lots of malts there. Raisiny flavours. Little hops to be found. Wooden characters. Finish is slightly grassy. Interesting beer. BeerBiker (1384), Odense, Denmark Dec 1, 2007 [Sampled in 2004.] This strange taste of valnuts doesn’t behave my tongue. Sorry, but ..... skunkt4 (12), Franklin, Texas, USA Nov 28, 2007 I really like this one. Nutty is a good description. It could use a bit more hoppiness but overall its very good. Classic English brown ale. gpekar (221), Maryland, USA Nov 28, 2007 Poured a nice reddish brown with a thick foamy tan head that left a little lacing. The aroma was a nice malty fragrance. There was a roasted nutty flavor. As the beer warmed the finish became lightly dry with a mild finish. This was a nice beer the aroma and flavor were there, but more on the subtle side. fredjaz (108), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Nov 25, 2007 Decent nut brown, nice pour, big head, nice aroma, caramel and walnuts on the palate. Probably wont drink again since I much prefer the Rogue hazelnut. Is alot cheaper though.
