Hmmmm.. I just didn’t get this one. It looked like a winner when I poured it. Nice deep brown, big fluffy head... Malty smell with just a trace of nuttiness to it. I just don’t like the taste of it. Maybe it’s the style. I tried the Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar and it tasted pretty much like this one. Flat and watery. It might have had a hint of hazelnut flavor to it, but it wasnt much. Probably won’t have this one again, but I wanted to try it.

Pretty good brown ale, more complex than other Brit browns I’ve had, light malt, light hops, some brown sugar taste evident. I don’t get the hazelnuts in the taste but I do like the balance.

Pours a light brown, even kind of transparent. Light malty and nutty aroma, with a flavor that was very similar. It was an okay brown ale, not my favorite.

Bottle. Pours burgundy. Brownish, fizzy head. Weak, earth aroma. Nutty, creamy taste, with smoky undertones. Not a fan.

550 ml bottle. Pours a dark brown clear color, like the color of flat cola, with a 2 finger off white head. Aroma is of molasses and nuts. Mouthfeel is medium. The initial sip of the beer is molasses. Then mellows out to more molasses and caramel with roasted malts. Another winner from Samuel Smith

355 ml bottle. Dark brown with some reddish notes. Tall coarse off-white head that clings to the glass. Rasiny aroma with a strong hint of apples. Mellow texture. Feels somewhat dry, but there is lots of malts there. Raisiny flavours. Little hops to be found. Wooden characters. Finish is slightly grassy. Interesting beer.

[Sampled in 2004.] This strange taste of valnuts doesn’t behave my tongue. Sorry, but .....
