llcooldave (309), San Antonio, Texas, USA Nov 21, 2007 Beautiful ruby brown in color with a gorgeous head that looks deceptively like root beer. Wonderful malt aroma. Decent carbonation on the palate and a nice roasted flavor with bitter coffee notes as an aftertaste. I found a new favorite! drawde (115), San Francisco, California, USA Nov 18, 2007 Light nutty aroma; smooth, flavor is nuts and cherries; dry finish; really nice.
[compared with Big Sky Moose Drool Brown Ale]
The Moose Drool is more aromatic, more chocalty, and sweeter. The Samuel Smith’s is lighter, and has fruit flavors. Dedollewaitor (3622), Odense, Denmark Nov 17, 2007 Brown with a fine white lasting head. Nutty, malty, soft, light sweet, caramel, medium bodied, pleasant. Good brown ale! rob897 (62), Buffalo, New York, USA Nov 13, 2007 great tasting brown ale, dark brown pour with thin laced head, nice walnut aroma, smooth aftertaste popkow (107), New York, New York, USA Nov 11, 2007 One of my favs, a classic brown that doesn’t try to strech the aroma boundaries. A average head with cloudy body that busts out the nutty earth that is brown sugar meeting up with an oak tree. thechandler (268), Morgantown, West Virginia, USA Nov 10, 2007 Pours a deep dark brown with a slightly sweet aroma. Thick but quickly dissipating head. Taste is absolutely nutty. Without a doubt the most nutty beer Ive ever had. Almost to a fault but not quite. Aside from that, its very sweet and mellow, and malty. But, without a doubt, nutty. Overall, very good if you like full flavored, nutty dark brown ales SHIG (2012), Aviano, Italy Nov 10, 2007 Bottle: Poured a reddish brown with short brown head. The aroma was a sweet nuts and tingly hops. The taste is dry nutty malt. mansquito (819), Boston/Philadelphia, USA Nov 4, 2007 Quickly dissapating head that leaves thin lacing. Clear brown, carbonated body. Smells of honey and nuts. There is a kind of branyish taste, which is a little sweet. There are definately a bunch of malts in the taste along with the obvious taste of nuts. It leaves a noticable aftertaste, but that’s ok. One of the weirder brown ales I’ve had.
