fro2218 (466), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Oct 23, 2007 A very nutty nut brown ale. Light body and nice caramel notes too. A thick tan head and creamy. xnoxhatex (1305), Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA Oct 20, 2007 12 oz from somewhere or some place. Dark brown with huge, tremendous tan head. Aroma is sweet malt with some dark fruit. Flavor is grainy, dark fruit, corny, no hops to speak of. Creamy, full body. Better than last time I tried it, not good by any means though. TroutBum (2), North Carolina, USA does not count Oct 18, 2007 Beautiful pour with a creamy tan head. Malty aroma that, as with the flavor, is just a bit too light. Wonderful palate with a lingering finish. Overall, not a bad beer at all. uoffgator (35), Miami, Florida, USA Oct 17, 2007 pours a very nice head. Color is an unimpressive opaque brown. Initial sip brings expectations of a rich full body but ends with a flat bitter wateriness. Flavors attempt to come together at the end but comes up short of satisfactory. Nothing special. OleR (2008), Oslo, Norway Oct 17, 2007 Bottle. A dense tan two finger head over a clear plain brown colored body. Inviting and complex aromas of fairly sweet malts, toffee and caramel, fruit (apples) and mild floral hops. Taste is mellow and balanced; medium sweet malts, a light fruity acidity with some mild hop tones. Healthy body. Quite mouthfillling. A more prononced hopbitterness appears in the finish.
A nice one. yngwie (4880), Kristiansand, Norway Oct 16, 2007 Bottle. Clear, brown pour, with a deep reddish hue, and topped by a creamy, beige head. The nose is on the malty side, with caramel and roasted malt. A little hoppy note is present as well. The flavor is roasted and caramellish as well, with a nice bitterness that lasts all the way to the finish. Quite sweet as well. There’s also a little touch of alcohol in the background, and the finish has a little metallic hint and some dried fruits. Medium body. Definately a classic brown ale, but it would be nice to get rid of the metallic note. (071016) tagz (334), USA Oct 15, 2007 pours red brown with a thin tan head. nice clean malt aroma, some caramel. taste is malt, burnt brown sugar, wood, moderate bitter hop on tail end. palate is a bit thin when cold but rounds out nicely as it warms. a slight acidic flavor does hang in your mouth a bit but that would be the only downside. this is a solid brown ale on all fronts. dmtroyer (409), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 14, 2007 Deep brown pour which fades to amber on the edges. Fairly dense, off-white head. Not much on the nose, but sweet malt greets one on the first sip. Slgith fig presence, the carbonation is refreshing but the body a little thin. Surprising finish, very drinkable.
