Bottle. Feel like this beer has almost made it to the mainstream. Not a fan of this representing craft brown ales. There are much better.

500 ml bottle. Pours dark red to brown with a thick foamy head. Nose is sweet nutty caramel malt with no noticeable hops. Medium to full body. Palate is of earthy hops, coffee, balanced by nutty juicy malt, hints of sherry. Finish is unremarkable. On the whole, it is wonderful Brown Ale.

Bottle. Pours a brown hued red with a large foamy light tan head. Laces in clumps around the edge of the glass. Aroma is sweet malt, toffee, a robust toastiness. Quite dry, bitter toasty malt, bordering on astringency. Some sweet nutty malt notes. Light to medium bodied with a nice lingering bitterness.

Samuel Smith rules. I’ve found it almost impossible to get reviews done with their beers cause I can’t help myself and hit them all hard. Light brown thick cap with excellent retention and messy, sticky lacing on top a medium dark brown brew. Aromas of lightly toasted malts, chocolate, vanilla, hazelnut and caramel. Taste is excellent with plenty of toasted and caramel malts, very obvious hop flavour and hazelnuts with some fruity notes. Medium bodied, lots of carbonation (acceptable levels) and a good amount of mid-range bitterness. This bottle came across a bit to tart during the middle of the glass but I don’t recall that usually happening, so I’ll note it and not dock for it. Excellent beer. Too bad I’ve got Bananaphone by Raffi stuck in my freaking skull...ringringringringringringring bananaphooooooooone!

500ml bottle thanks to Chad (cfrancis). Pours amber with big brown-beige head. Big lacings on the glass. Aroma is fruity, hints of apricots. Some caramel and some hints of nuts also. Taste is pretty much like aroma. Notes of apricots. Nice brew but nothing special for me.

The name is fitting because it pours the shade of a walnut and has a nutty aroma. The tastes are more subtle of roasted malt and almond. Slightly watery. I expected a lingering almond flavor, but it didn’t stick, which is unfortunate.
