COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed at Samuel Smith’s small, traditional British brewery with well water (the original well sunk in 1758 is still in use), best barley malt, roasted barley, yeast and aromatic hops. Nut Brown Ale is relatively dry with a rich amber-brown colour and nutty flavour derived exclusively from small amounts of dark malt. Brown ales are a specialty of northern England. Fermented in ’stone Yorkshire squares’.

Bottled, 0.55l. Clear dark ruby brown color with a nice beige head. Aroma is sweet (raisins) nad nutty with a hints of caramel and coffee. Sweet malty taste with a little bit dry and bitter finish. Mouthfeel is pretty thin, was expacting more. Good but not great.

Not quite sure what the fuss is about this stuff. It’s got a nice nutty/toffee aroma, but it’s also kind of watery, and has way more mineral taste than I’d like. Decent but kinda blah

Good white head that persists. Moderate carbonation. Sweet toffee aroma. Taste- balanced sweetness, toffee & caramel. low-mod bitter finish. Great beer.

550 ml bottle. Pours a clear dark golden brown with lasting light tan head and thick lacing. Aroma is mild and sweet: malty, with a hint of roasted nuts. Flavor is same, with malt dominating upfront, and nutty character in the finish. Thin to medium bodied, moderate carbonation, malty sweet finish.

550 mL bottle poured. Love these uniformed bottles by the way. Pours a copper color with a lasting head. Super sweet candy malt aroma. Flavor is really mild. Slightly nutty, not quite as much as I expected. Dry malt finish. Another pretty good beer from these guys. Enjoyed it.

Still probably my favorite nut brown. Delivers on both taste and nostalgia. Good flavor.

Amber with medium low carbonation, light caramel and chocolate aroma and flavor, the nutty character is very subtle. Well attenuated, dry and crispy. A good beer, good brown ale, English style.

Toll malzig-nussiges Bier. Nicht zu süß, schön trocken-malzig mit tollem nussigen Unterton. Schöne Ale-characteristik, leicht herber, nussig-malziger Nachgeschmack. Lecker!

Bottle @ home. Dark brown in color, lacing, light brown head. Bready, sugary sweet, nutty aroma. Flavor has dark bread, sweetness, toasted malt, hops. Dry finish. Sweetish.

Poured from 12 oz bottle into pint glass Appearance: pours a thick, sudsy off white head that slowly recedes with moderate lacing. Color is a mostly clear light brown with plenty of streaming carbonation. Aroma: rich roasted malts, caramel, nuts, earthy hops. Mouthfeel: medium bodied, frothy, with a wet finish. Flavor: terrific combination of roasted malts, sweet caramel, ripe fruit, and a definite nuttiness. There are some tangy and earthy hops in the backbone. Overall: a world class beer for sure. Perhaps the standard by which all other English style Nut Brown’s should be judged.

Poured from bottle. Pours a clear brown with rich, thick soft khaki head. Aroma - malt, toffee, touch of milk chocolate. Taste - definitely some malt, nutty, touch of English hops. Smooth and delicious.
