Brewed at Samuel Smith’s small, traditional British brewery with well water (the original well sunk in 1758 is still in use), best barley malt, roasted barley, yeast and aromatic hops. Nut Brown Ale is relatively dry with a rich amber-brown colour and nutty flavour derived exclusively from small amounts of dark malt. Brown ales are a specialty of northern England. Fermented in ’stone Yorkshire squares’.

I poured it from the bottle into a pint glass. The aroma is nutty, caramel, and toffee. The taste is caramel, dried fruit, toffee, and nutty. It’s smooth with a roasty finish. This is one of the best browns out there.

Aroma: caramel, bread aroma with a touch of grass; Appearance: reddish brown, clear, with pillowy head; Taste: sweet with bitter notes; a little twang of something; Palate: fairly full body with average carbonation with some lacing; long finish with unpleasant aftertaste; Overall: disappointing; could be partly the style and partly the execution; would not buy again.

Nutty, malty, not bready. Lightlly hopped, earthy. Pours a dark brown, softly carbonated. Fairly thin. A refreshing fall dinner beer.

Everything that you could want in a brown. This type of beer is quickly becoming one of my favorites, and with the very fair price of these, it could very well become one of my "go to" beers.

Dark amber colour with a small layer of head. Tastes of nuts, earthy hops, toffee, spruce and hints of caramel. Medium body, somewhat aggressive carbonation and a nutty finish. A fine nutty ale

Poured from a bottle. Strong hazelnut and caramel aroma. Ruby & brown color with frothy white head that sticks with nice lacing. Toffee and nutty notes that linger to a hoppy profile of herb and earthy with a good bite. Crisp and snappy mouth feel as the malt is kinda thin. One of my favorite nutty browns that I wish we would appreciate more from across the pound.
