COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed at Samuel Smith’s small, traditional British brewery with well water (the original well sunk in 1758 is still in use), best barley malt, roasted barley, yeast and aromatic hops. Nut Brown Ale is relatively dry with a rich amber-brown colour and nutty flavour derived exclusively from small amounts of dark malt. Brown ales are a specialty of northern England. Fermented in ’stone Yorkshire squares’.

Sam Adams lager glass from bottle . A: slight malty sweetness, and shells like a dum-dum root beer lollipop. App: brown-amber, with small, tan, slightly frothy head. Long lasting lace. T: weak dark lager taste upfront- yeasty, bready. Slight bitter malt back, lengthy bitter aftertaste. P: medium bubbly and smooth down.

Good Brown Ale as a nice change to zingy Golden Ales or bitter Bitters, saucy. Very good with crisps and nuts, better at home with pie and chips. prefer it to Newcastle Brown ale, not as heavy. Not necessarily a winter only drink but not a light summer night session brew.
