I had a chance to taste this head to head with Rogue’s Hazelnut Nectar tonight. Rogue came out the victor. However, Sammys Nut Brown is very good in its own right. A little less complex, but still a good nutty flavor.

Huge, frothy beige head with beautiful lacing. Body is brown and transparent. Aroma combines nuts, caramel, licorice and roasted malts. The flavour starts sweet with a strong presence of nuts and finishes with a dryer and bitter note. Very smooth but not overly tasty. A nutlovers dream though.

Dark amber colour with dense off-white head. Aroma is malty with caramel and nuts. Flavor is sweet and malty with nuts and toffee, slight bitter finish. Nice smooth palate.

Nice brown color. Aromas of nuts, malt, and slight hops. Tastes like malt, hazlenuts, and slightly dry. Finishes strong, crisp, and smooth. Not as sweet as other nut browns I've had, but that seems to be the British style, and is not a complaint. Excellent.

Bottled. Clear orange coloured with a huge off white head. Malty aroma with roasted notes and notes of caramel and cookies. Malty flavour with lots of caramel and roasted and hoppy notes. Hoppy finish. Nice.

This is a good nut brown ale that has a good bit of that classic English flavor. It is nutty, has a good smoked flavor, too. I feel though that this brew wasn’t at it’s freshest. I’ve sampled this one a couple times and it just doesn’t seem quite right (perhaps because of the clear bottles?) Anyways, it’s still not that bad.

Pours a nice golden brown, Aromas of nuts, caramel, and hops. Flavor is semi-sweet caramel and nuts with a nice subtle hop.
