COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed at Samuel Smith’s small, traditional British brewery with well water (the original well sunk in 1758 is still in use), best barley malt, roasted barley, yeast and aromatic hops. Nut Brown Ale is relatively dry with a rich amber-brown colour and nutty flavour derived exclusively from small amounts of dark malt. Brown ales are a specialty of northern England. Fermented in ’stone Yorkshire squares’.

Bottle, pours clear light brown with a fading tan head. Not much hops in the aroma, mostly caramel, fig, and a little earth. The body is light-ish, moderate carbonation. Taste of caramel, raisin and grain, with mildly bitter finish.

Clear reddish-brown beer with a bubbly head which quickly dissipates (this may be because I had to cart it home in my backpack.) Nutty malt scent with a flavour to match, as well as having a bit of fruit in there and a rich, earthy chocolate taste in the aftertaste. A pity it went a bit flat but very nice all the same.

Brown Ale que representa bem o tradicionalismo do estilo. Equilibrada, saborosa e com excelente drinkability.

Pours thin from pint bottle with large but very weak head, almost foamy like an ALB. Reddish brown to amber color. I got a very distinct aftertaste from this and after pouring it into my glass warm I finally picked up on the scent, it is exactly like a Tootsie Pop right when you are reaching the inside. Which brings me to the taste. Very fruity but very easy to drink, wan’t getting much nuttiness. Fruity but not zesty and sharp like an IPA. Not a bad beer but it’s mediocre all around and just as watery without as much biting carbonation so easier to drink even than an ALB (American Light Beer).

Clear brown pour with short lived white head. Good balance between sweet and bitter. Lacked complexity, bit boring.

drink cool 10-14°C. Eye: pours a cola brown color with a rather quickly dissipating white to beige head and medium to low carbonation. Nose: sweets, cassis, berries Mouth: wild berries, hops and nutty malts Palate: milky, oat meal, somehow dusty, and nuts as well as nut shells and leaves Overall: nice beer, not as chewy as I expected it to be.
