This beer rocks. If you like other stouts that I rated highly, then this one won’t disappoint.

Nice aroma, decent flavor. Not too thin, with a slightly bitter aftertaste.

2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
A real disappointment. Wanted something with some strengh to it (as you might expect in a stout), but it was very watery.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Now were talking OATMEAL STOUT. Deep dark opaque brown with just a bit of a reddish hue. Tan head was on the thin side but leaves a very nice lacing down the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, caramel and much more that I can’t adequately describe. Silky smooth mouthfeel and finishes with just enough bitterness to make it enjoyable. This is THE oatmeal stout to which all others should be compared! Great beer.

Very smooth, almost sweet flavor. Chocolate and roasted qualities stick out. Nice thick mouthfeel. Quite enjoyable.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
The best English oatmeal stout I have tasted. Very smooth and roasty tasting with just enough bite. Not oily tasting like alot of English oatmeal stouts. Delicous!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: FEB 10, 2003 Wonderful stout! Black with a reddish tint/hue. Tastes like some bittersweet chocolate with maybe molasses or coffee in it. Recommended with a creamy or chocolate dessert.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: DEC 30, 2010 Re-ReRate Dark black pour - nice khaki head, faint chocolaty aroma. Nice black dirt earthiness wit a hint of bittersweet chocolate. Solid - but not 4.4 worthy. Original 4.5 Re rate: Ordered at a pizza restaurant because they had it listed as ’Sam Adams’ Oatmeal (not heard of that) - oh well - still the same - Smooth, choclatey after taste, nice thick creamy head. Definitely one of the better stouts I have tasted - especially one so easily obtainable. Noticed the sweet aroma as well. Same score.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: FEB 24, 2003 My goodness, this is a heavy, sweet beer! It is more in the class of "dessert wine" than good ol' fashion beer. A very, very full flavor, with a good head and great aftertaste. My only real complaint is the low alcohol content.
