3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Black with a faint red tint and a lasting microbubble tan head. Fruity, roasted malt with dark chocolate that encourages me to drink. Medium smooth body, slightly grainy from the carbonation. Soft bitter roasted barley, oats, milk, with coffee elements. Light lingering acidness. Not as good as I hoped but decent.

Bottle pour black to opaque dark brown with thick tan head. Nose sweet fruit like holiday gum balls, molasses, light roast. Taste sweeter malt up front, again with the dark fruit. Only light chocolate, not much roast in the flavor. Moderate bitterness mid palate. Kind of thin for my preference in an oatmeal stout. I seem to remember this being better 20 years ago. Maybe it was my lack of experience, or maybe something has changed. Nothing off putting, but nothing spectacular either.

"still the benchmark as far as Oatmeal Stouts are concerned. Iím glad SS no longer does the clear glass bottles...it was hit or miss whether or not your beer would be spoiled, but now itís always great. Perfect nose, great smooth mouthfeel, if a little thin. Roasted everything, highly drinkable."

opaque with a tan head that doesnít dissipate too quickly but couldíve hung around a tad longer. I like the hint of caramel aroma. Solidly medium sweet for an oatmeal stout with a light to medium hit of bitter in the middle that I think gives way back to the sweet on the finish. Itís not the fullest bodied oatmeal stout but still delivers a creamy enough texture to live up to its heritage. Iím glad those Tadcaster Yorkshiremen revived the style.

Oatmeal stout is amazing. One of sam smiths very best. Excellent aroma and has a nice hops associated with it.

355ml bottle served in a tulip glass.
A: Pours a dark brown almost black color (amber tones against light) forming a medium and bubbled beige head. Medium retention and lots of lingering lacings left in the glass. A thin layer remains forever on the top
S: Great smell of dark chocolate, chocolate malts, brown sugar, oatmeal and roasted malts. Notes of brown bread and yeasts
T: Slightly sweet and quite roasted upftont. Notes of dark chocolate, chocolate malts, brown sugar, oatmeal. Quite malty beer. Mild roasted bitter end
M: Medium creamy body. A bit molasses. Medium to low carbonation. Roasted aftertaste
O: Excellent drinkability. One of the best British beers Iíve ever had

Pours dark brown with a nice tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, dark fruit, and hops. Flavor is sweet but thin and watery , and very hoppy for a stout. No body or texture.

Bottle from Utah Liquor store park city. Pours coca-cola brown with a thin brown head. nice molasses notes on the nose. smooth mouthfeel which makes sense given the oatmeal. I donít get a ton of lactose but I do get a nice molasses note from the malt. finishes clean. Itís a glorious beer.
