COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Originally a drink for lactating mothers, oatmeal stout was described as nutritional on early labels. Oats are in the same family as barley, and a small addition yields great flavor. Popular in the late 1800’s, the last oatmeal stout was brewed before the First World War until Samuel Smith reintroduced this style in 1980.

Almost opaque, with an unusually silky texture and complex, medium-dry velvet palate. Bittersweet finish.

Pours a rich deep burnt umber...tall couple fingers of tan foam. The nose has lots of chocolate, roasted malt, cola and raisin. The palate is complex and the mouthfeel is silky. Nice smoothness from the oats, roasted chocolate and a touch of dark fruit and bitterness on the late palate. Great example of the style.

Pours black with a frothy, tan head that lingers. Aromas of roasty malt, chocolate, molasses and dates. Flavor is medium sweet with a fairly mild flavor up front that then blossoms into strong, chocolate and roasted malt flavors. Finishes with a long, dry, roasted malt bitterness. Medium-light body with a thinnish mouthfeel and mild carbonation. Overall, although not complex, what it does it does exceptionally well.

Good oatmeal beer that feels like an after dinner cigar to some, a good finisher to others. Oatmeal stout is always fun. Cheers. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Fľaša. Tmavá čierna farba, bublinková, hnedá pena, celkom držala. Vôňa sladká, sladová, s jemnými tónmi kvetín. V chuti čokoláda, jemne pražené slady, káva, kakao. Telo stredne plné, nižšia nasýtenosť. Veľmi zaujímavý stout. Som prekvapený.

0,355 l bottle, bought at Grebnhan´s, Bremen. Pours out BLACK with a big head. Berriefruits and coffee on the nose. Taste starts with more coffee, then it´s gonna be sweet berriefruits. Later shortly with coffee followed by the fruity sweetness. Little bit too sweet. Dry dark choco aftertaste. Not that heavy stuff.

deep dark brown colour, dense, creamy brown head; complex aroma of chocolate, dried fruits like plum and maybe raisin, hints of apple, oatmeal, minimal herbal notes and some coffee; taste of chocolate, mild roasted coffee, vanilla, dried fruits and some herbal liqueur notes; minimal sourness in the sweet aftertaste; excellent sweet stout

Bottle into pint glass. Damn fine stout. Not much head, you can pour it hard. As far as sweet stouts go I would consider this the standard, alongside left hand milk nitro. Highly recommend. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
