COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Originally a drink for lactating mothers, oatmeal stout was described as nutritional on early labels. Oats are in the same family as barley, and a small addition yields great flavor. Popular in the late 1800’s, the last oatmeal stout was brewed before the First World War until Samuel Smith reintroduced this style in 1980.

Almost opaque, with an unusually silky texture and complex, medium-dry velvet palate. Bittersweet finish.

Such harsh comments for a delicious stout. I can truly say I never had the best stout, but I don’t mind hunting for it either. Nice smooth pour with a rich creamy head. Sweat smell. Excellent full body taste, that’s very demanding of the palate. The head disappears quickly, and you can actually listen and hear the head fizzle and snap as it evaporates. Is this beer is trying to tell us something? I’m a different kind of beer rater, as well as tasting and smelling, I listen to what my beer has to say. Its telling me to finish up and mosey on off to bed. Enjoyed this stout to the extreme. Would highly recommend, a real pleasure to drink.

Pours black with creamy tan head. Aroma of burnt malt and that distinctive, earthy English hop.. Flavor is roasted malt, hints of bitter dark chocolate and molasses, and of course that English hop flavor that takes me back to the mid 80s when fancy beer meant something from Europe. Smooth and creamy, and quite sweet. Love it.

Bottle, black beer, creamy almonds colored head. Aroma coffee, yeast, faint metal. Taste is chocolate, molasses, hint of coffee, faint metal. Palate is good for style, not too thick, carbonation subdued, and very soft and nitro-like. Overall, not as sweet as many oatmeal stouts, nice balance.

Beer almost black, abundant brown foam, predominant flavor of milk chocolate, is a typical sweet stout.

500ml bottle. Almost black colour with a huge tan head and nice lacing. Aroma of roasted malt and a bit of dark chocolate. Taste is lightly sweet, roasted malt and dark chocolate, some dark fruit. Dry and slightly bitter finish, aftertaste also bitter, but very well balanced overall. Very smooth mouthfeel almost creamy though a little on the thin side. Excellent stout.

A verry good taste, I really can not fell the taste of chocolate but it is noticeable the taste of burnt sugar remembering gently brown sugar. Good foam and good body.

Aroma:
Slight/medium aroma of malts, caramel, liquorice, chocolate and roasted malts.

Appearance:
Turbid/opaque ruby/black beer with a slight/medium brown head.

Taste/Palate:
Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel, liquorice and chocolate; ends slightly and bitter with roasted malts.

Overall:
This beer is intense for its 5 abv, but lacks depth and complexity.

UPDATED: MAY 6, 2016 Dark pour, enormous light brown head. Smells is faint but pretty nice..roasted and sweet. Taste is good, slightly bitter at the end, but it’s a good bitter. Very smooth, but a tad thin for a stout. Aftertaste that follows a few seconds later is a stronger bitter...not quite as pleasant, actually bordering on unpleasant. Overall pretty good. I’d drink this one again.
