Poured from a 550ml (a pint+) bottle into a clear gass tumbler. A one-finger light brown head. Leaves good amount of lacings. Initial impression is roasted malt sweetness, mild chocolate-coffee effect which is smoothed by the oatmeal. The hops are there but integrated so they are not a seperate taste. A very nice, rich stout that could easily substitute for a meal. Highly recommended.

Aug 18, 2008 550ml bottle at the Princess Louise, 15th August 2008. Near black with a brown tint. Beige head that leaves good lacing. Nose of oats and cream. Full bodied and creamy with a smooth, roasted malt flavour. Good but not quite excellent.

Pours a lovely dark brown, bit of exuberance in the light tan head initially, then settling down, minimal lacing, nose of malt, cocoa, taste initially malt layers, ending with a bit of mild hop. Very mild sweetmess, good mouth feel. Thoroughly enjoyable on a cloudy rainy day.

Aug 16, 2008 Pours pretty much black. The aroma is nice, with some sweet candy, grain, malts and chocolate. The taste is smooth, rich, and full of chocolate, oatmeal, and cream. Very well balanced and a nice blend. I like it.

Aug 15, 2008 Pours a little lighter brown than, say, Guinness or Beamish. Full palate, very light bitterness...not at much bite as a lot of stouts. Finishes sweet. My uncle recommended this one to me...my respect for him just shot up quite a bit!

Aug 15, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark brown, nearly black, with a thin tan head. Aroma is of oatmeal malt, and a hint of chocolate. Flavor of complex malts, oatmeal, chocolate, with a strong bitterness. Mouthfeel is creamy, with excellent body. Very good beer, much better than I remembered it.
