3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle at home in NH, shared with Charlie (he liked it). Pours ruby-brown with a dense, beige cream head. Lacto roast aroma. Medium sweet flavor, slight burnt sugar, dark fruitiness, lacto sugar sweetness, faint cocoa. Light to medium in body with average, smooth carbonation. Sweet finish, more lacto sugars, faint cocoa roast, faint chocolate. A very solid beer overall. Glad to finally get around to having/rating it.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a dark mahogany with an effervescent head which dissipates quickly. Aroma is wonderful, fragrant burnt sugars with a spicy hop aroma as well. Body is a tad light for the style, but a lovely flavor of raisins and berries followed by a mild but insistent bitterness on the back side. One of the best.

First oatmeal stout of the season pours deep & dark with a fluffy one finger cap. Taste is short & sweet; starts off silky & fades with a slight brown sugar burn.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
One of the most reviewed/rated beers on the internet (RB & BA): I hadnít had one since the mid 90ís while working in Alaska and thought Iíd better treat myself to a bottle again.
This bottle (550ml) was bought at íBeers of Europeí and poured into an Abbot Ale glass tankard during November 13.
Deep, dark brown body, leaning towards black unless held to a light source: on top a large tanned blanket of foam.
Lots going on in the aroma (and taste): dark chocolate bar with fruit and nuts, coffee, liquorice and caramel notes appeared in the nose and mouth.
This is a well made, complex brew that excites the taste buds and nasal sences: I can see why itís so popular.
The body is fairly smooth and slips down far too easily: a very nice beer in deed.

An absolutely delicious drink on all fronts. The aroma is both rich and crisp. The taste is nutty and semi-sweet, but with a nice bitter stout finish. If youíre looking for the perfect beer for a winter night by the fire, this is the f******* beer youíre looking for right here.

Deep copper to brown, clear.
Medium body, moderate flavor intensity, very smooth texture, long palate.
Perfect bittersweet-sour balance,
Not very intense, but well balanced and elegant.
