Samuel Smiths Old Brewery Pale Ale

550ml bottle at The Chandos, 26th Oct. Clear darkish amber with a line of white head. Strong malty flavour. Good weight.

Clear amber with medium beige head. Sweet malty aroma with caramel and hints of hops. Hoppy flavour with fruits, toasted malt and caramel notes.

Pours a solid burnt orange with a thick, quickly simmering head that flattens out evenly to an off-white ring--a steady stream of effervescence accompanies... bright, fragrant aroma that boasts fresh hops, doughy yeast and sweet malts--a well-balanced scent... soft, smooth vivacious approach with a tickling presence on the teeth--medium to full-bodied, almost demands like an IPA in its heft... first and foremost, punchy hops; last yet least, hearty malts--a crisp, clean and sweet balance that does not usually occur on American soil... not surprisingly, another stud for the Samuel Smith stable...pairing this would be a joyous endeavor... in a pleasant war with Sierra Nevada to be the plae ale I sip in heaven (God willing!)

Clear orange amber color with a nice creamy head. Definitely of the English persuasion, which isnt a bad thing. Malt forward with the hop profile showing itself late. Light, sessionable, with caramel, toffee and slight citrus. Tasty.

A great session ale. Pours a delicious gold and has a wondeful aroma of earthy English hops. The flavor is smooth, just malty enough, with a prominent, yet soft and subtle, hop bitterness. Gentle hops would be the best way to describe this beer.

Got it in the gift pack. Pours nice with a great head. Very bland taste. Wasnt impressed.

Light to medium malt aroma, citrus hops, caramel and tobacco. Smooth, rather light flavor, with caramel, citrus, pine, tobacco. Great balance. A good refreshing beer.

Bottle from gift pack from Market Street in McKinney, TX. Pours a hazy deep amber with beige head. Aroma of malt, notes of honey and faint hops. Flavor is malty with very nice hop flavor and evenly balanced bitter. Mouthfeel is medium body with high carbonation. Overall, this is a well crafted ale, easy to drink, not over powering.
