Clear, amber-red coloured with a lasting, thin, off-white head. Taste is sweet with more bitterness in the -dry- finish. Caramel malts and a strong hop character. Some orange as well. Quite straightforward, well brewed. Cajun (144), New Iberia, Louisiana, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 25, 2007 Bottle - Amber/reddish color with thin white head. Malt caramel nose with hint of hops. Malty flavor, slightly bitter flavor, or rather not as hoppy as I like a pale ale. Leaves something to be desired, but an okay or average brew. CheersMate1 (785), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Mar 23, 2007 This beer pours an amber red. Pours a nice head that trails off, which is good because it doesn’t get in the way of drinking. Not a creamy beer, and turns out to be very thin. Somewhat malty, but I am missing out on the big picture I guess. Not a complex beer. The percentile is fititng for this beer. alexsdad06 (1079), Ohio, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 19, 2007 Updated: Mar 21, 2007Pour from a 550 ml bottle. Amber in color with a disappearing small white head. Aroma has hints of caramel, sweet malts, and hops. I think I was expecting more from the flavor. There is some hop bitterness as well as some caramel malts. The problem is this beer is a little thin and doesn’t have enough flavor to keep it interesting. From notes. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 16, 2007 Nothing pale about it. Deep, clear, raspberryish red pour with thinning off-white suds. Wafts of booze and musty grapefruit hoppiness. Big, bludgeoning hop bitterness with a twist of aniseed-like spice. But little else. A nibble of smoky caramel maltiness? By Sam’s high standards, disappointing. BeerBlitz (48), Roslyn, Pennsylvania, USA

With its creamy light tan head and golden brown color, this beer is a pleasure to look at. Aroma is certainly malty with a faint hint of hops. Medium body with lingering malt taste. A typical Samuel Smith session beer (a good thing). faroeviking (6024), Republica Vikingo de las, Faroe Islands
