Captures the soul of beer. It has a maltiness that reminds you that beer is a product of the soil. Balance of malt and hops.

It’s actually kinda nice to just have a beer that isn’t super hopped or smoked or funky. It’s just a beer. A well made, pleasant to drink beer that won’t tax your brain or palate and goes nice with fish and chips. Damn tasty, and you could drink a boat of it.

Odd mineral-y, carbonation-y lingering after-taste. Could use slightly more hops.

Pours amber with a nice head. Aroma is malty and slightly sour. Flavor has some funky hop note along with a nice malt character. Finish is nice and dry. Something is not quite right. Dissapointing from Samuel Smith’s.

Bottle. Amber color with a huge head. A good beer, but I wasnt blown away. I would have liked it to be a little more hoppy. I would drink it again.

Tap, maybe nitro. Three Goat’s Heads, Oxford. Copper with a sticky layer of off white. Dusty, hay hops. Sort of a stale smell overall. Flavor seems kinds of dusty too. Some farmy flavor, a bit of mineral finish. Sort of thin palate. Not bad, but rather forgettable.

Concur, tastes more like a brown than a pale ale. Not as good as other Sam Smith products, but still very good. Not much nose. Somewhat confusing, tastes like the younger (more mild) brother of the Nut Brown. Lighter flavor with a smooth finish. Excellent beer to introduce to a newbie.

What a well rounded and tasty beer. I have been putting off trying a Sam Smith beer because I try to find more obscure beers first and jolly-O what I have been missing, mate! I don’t even know if people in England say jolly-o or if I have been watching too much TV, but nonetheless this is an awsome beer! The pour was a amber inviting color with a 2 finger head that laced nicely. The taste was all malt with a hoppy finish. I was expecting an IPA-ish or APA-ish taste (hence the name) but found this to be a delicious ESB that I will have again. Cheers, blokes!

Bottle. Amber color with healthy head. Light to medium bodied. English malt aroma and subdued hoppiness compared to the American craft ESB I’ve experienced. Very drinkable beer.
