KDorgan12 (163), Memphis, Tennessee, USA Jan 1, 2007 Bottle. Tasted more like a brown than a pale - but a good brown. Maltier than a typical pale and not as much hops as I would expect. I tried this after the Brown Ale and thought the labels had been swapped. miket25 (24), USA Dec 29, 2006 Nice smooth taste, with a sweet finish. Amber color with a nice head that doesn’t stick around after a few minutes. I really like the taste of this ale, which has a very pleasing flavor overall. Hawksfan17 (717), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 22, 2006 Pours brown with a white head. It has a nice sweet corn malt aroma blended with hops. The flavor is of mild hops with a nice malt balance. It finishes strong with hops and is smooth going down. A very nice beer. Goodeone (39), Mississauga, Ontario, Canada Dec 16, 2006 Poured a beautiful amber colour with a brownish frothy head. Caramel and maybe toffee aroma. Definite sweet caramel taste with the perfect amount of carbonation, not much at all. Very smooth but with a strong taste. Not quite my type of beer, but still quite nice for the rare occasion themadmumis (344), Westminster, Maryland, USA Dec 14, 2006 Has the organic taste, but it isn’t as rounded as the St. Peter’s offerings. Too rough for my palate and it suffers overall from a natural selection. Clearly below St. Peter’s Ale offering, however, cheaper. Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Dec 10, 2006 550ml bottle. Pretty beer - crystal clear amber with a big, foamy tan head that gets a bit rocky as is shrinks. Nutty caramel malt nose. Mildly bitter nutty malt flavor, dry. Good. yemntftb (106), USA Dec 10, 2006 Pours a dark reddish brown color, similarly to new castle. Smells shunky, almost identically to new castle. This beer is extremely smooth, but lacks any real characteristics. Good amount of carbonation, not a lot of taste. I would recommend this beer though, because its the same way they made it in the 1700s. TheBeerOrg (1563), Kentucky, USA Dec 6, 2006 Updated: Jan 20, 2007Pours dark, slightly hazy reddish amber with a thin, mostly receding light tan head. Aroma of dark crystal, raisins, caramel, vinous malt, fruity British hops, toffee, nuts, and dates. Commercial description is correct, this beer feels like it is a product of the soil. Very earthy, with its’ dirty, slightly vinous and fruity flavors. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with lush, foamy carbonation. Quit enjoyable, and easy to drink.
