harrisoni (6703), Ashford, Kent, England Jul 26, 2005 Bottle. Chestnut colour with biscuity aroma, some fruity malt, some flowery hop. Good balance, well made and very drinkable. Not as good as the organic best ale or the oatmeal stout I had tried earlier, perhaps I did these the wrong way round bigrond (1043), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 15, 2005 this was a very smooth beer. nice color and flavor. A good amount of carbonation. can’t wait to try more of this brand HogTownHarry (3922), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Jul 10, 2005 Updated: Aug 18, 2005Bottle (550ml) - in a Samuel Smith’s pint glass. I love all their ales - and I’ve had this on one tap in the UK (many at one sitting/falling down) and it’s very drinkable. Pours somewhat cloudy reddish orange (a lively pour) with a rocky off-white head. Aroma of yeast, mid-malts, a hint of hoppiness, fruits (apple, apricot), a bit of heather and a whisp of sea air. Mouthfeel is oily, acidic, grabs the attention. Taste is strongly bitter (my bottle is almost a year old), mild burned malts, avacado, bit of coriander, plum, appleseed A slightly harsh metallic tang on the linger, with the orange-pith bitterness the last note to ring. Contemplative - on draught it’s lighter and breezier, not as "bitter" a bitter. The weakest of the four (Imperial Stout, Oatmeal Stout, Nutbrown) but still a very good one. TaktikMTL (2745), Montréal-Nord, Quebec, Canada Jul 8, 2005 Bouteille claire de 550 ml achetée à la LCBO. Arôme: Odeur de fruits. Apparence: Couleur ambrée. Large col mousseux. Aucune bulle. Large dentelle sur le verre. Saveur: Goût de caramel et de prunes. Court arrière goût. Palette: Le corps est moyen avec une texture minérale. Arrière goût de caramel. Moyenne effervescence en bouche. (Rating #202) orimo (19), tokyo, Japan Jul 6, 2005 this beer has peaceful pleasant aroma.
this beer is good any dishes especially chips.
in winter, it may suit hot stew. puzzl (2579), New York, New York, USA Jul 3, 2005 Totally dug this beer. Herbal aroma over a nice, opaque, brown body. Oh, I’ll stop hesitating and say this: this beer tastes very much like a super-premium iced green tea. Totally awesome. The hops just gives off that perfect, refreshing, "green" finish, to go along with a delicately sweet, slighty sour body. Snapple should buy this one up. TheDean (785), MIlwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Jul 2, 2005 Not sure if it’s the fact this beer is imported or what, but I’ve never had very good luck with the Samuel Smith beers. Kinda blah, but with potential to be good. if that makes sence. BeerHawk (1175), Huntsville, Alabama, USA Jun 27, 2005 Bottle; Pours with an average size, off-white head that diminishes fairly quick. An orange colored body that is slighly hazed. Both the aroma and flavor have a moderate butterscoth/toffee flavor. Creamy, medium body with soft carbonation. Nice!
