lagermonkey (597), Marietta, Georgia, USA May 10, 2005 Pours a rich reddish copper with a very light tan head. Head is thick and a bit lacy. Aroma is lightly bitter and metallic.
Taste is a bit matallic and sweet pale malt. Creamy and smooth with a very mild body. Light hops finish. Very drinkable and pretty light-bodied. Nothing really special here.
rederic (1785), montréal, Quebec, Canada May 3, 2005 Bright copper hue, thick foamy head, nutty accent, malted caramel aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate, well rounded with his light nutty taste, malty fineness in a dry malt flavors and hoppy finish. krisbierjaeger (844), dolores, Colorado, USA Apr 27, 2005 after tasting a lackluster american ESB, this baby shines: it’s caramel in a glass, in both scent and color. it lights up a glass with a robin’s breast amber-brown brilliance-- while nut-brown sizzling sugars waft upward to sweetly perfume just a little corner of my world (a hovel otherwise stinking of cigars and decomposing dreams). a stucco-like head is nearly as steadfast as a geological benchmark--lovely. when asked to think of a really bitchin’ session ale, i believe we--as a specie--are pre-programed to picture something very much like this. it’s very primal and perfect. besides a candy store of fresh praline, the aroma adds to it’s depth by suggesting dates, plum, red licorice, polished leather and pollen-dusted grasses. taste is mild, with tobacco, toasted chestnuts and rusty bitters. quickly in the tasting narative, the hops take the lead, hold it, and nudge out the caramel in a dramatic finish -- but it’s still one where everybody wins.
beerseer (51), Lewiston, Maine, USA Apr 26, 2005 (bottle) Pours a brilliant amber with a medium sized, bubbly, light-brown head. Maintains a deep, red-orange mahogany in the glass. Aroma is not ver impressionable; malty, a little molasses sweetness. Wonderful to the palate: a rich, slightly creamy medium body that fills the mouth and is downright fresh and clean. Like the aroma, the flavor is not terribly strong, presenting a slight malty sweetness. Overall, easy to drink, very refreshing. Will definitely return to this one at some point. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA Apr 22, 2005 Pours dark amber large head. Not much in the aroma, light hops and yeast. Maybe a touch of caramel. Flavor can best be described as malt based. Just a little caramel and a little bitter at the back. It is very well balanced and a very drinkable ale. pintbypint (1002), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Apr 21, 2005 500ml clear bottle. Pored orangy-brown with a generous off white head that was pillowy and full. Light in the aroma department, detected light sweet malt and caramel, just a light whiff of floral hops. Malty caramel tastes, hints of orange, llightly hopped. macguy (144), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Apr 17, 2005 Maybe it’s just me, or maybe it’s the suggestion from the name, but this beer has a distinct hazlenut mouth. The aroma is "eh" but the flavor is amazing. Nice head that goes away too soon. Fukito (604), Buenos Aires, Argentina Apr 10, 2005 Updated: Apr 19, 2008Bottle
English-style pale ale. Amber - dark colour, large frothy head. Lively aroma, bursting with hops, caramel malt and biscuits. Medium-bodied. hints of burnt. Nice package, i really like Sam´s bottles. This one is simple, yet apalling. I must say i love tadcaster brews. This one, although maybe too simple, lives up to the brewery it as brewed.
