l1br4r14n (274), Washington, Washington DC, USA Apr 28, 2009 Pours a dark amber with a frothy two finger sandy-brown head. A light aroma of malty sweetness. Flavor is sweet malt, caramel, some raisins and just a bit of hop bitterness. Nicely balanced, albeit leaning to the malt. Light mouthfeel, light carbonation and a little creamy. Super easy to drink, a great session beer. SamGamgee (1396), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA Apr 25, 2009 55cl bottle. Clear amber with a fizzy head. Caramel, toasty malty and minerally, earthy aroma. Light caramel, earthy hops and a medium-bitter finish with light lingering sweetness. Light fruity esters but pretty clean and light mineral flavors. Medium bodied with medium-light carbonation. Pretty nice malt character with a somewhat anonymous hop bitterness. I know its just a facsimile of a proper premium bitter (or english pale ale?) but it is still somewhat pleasant. MitchWayne (264), Kokkola, Finland Apr 19, 2009 Nutty, caramelly, malty and pretty soft pale ale with not much bitterness. Easy to drink, easy to forget. Nesta13 (202), Australia Apr 15, 2009 Pretty good English pale ale. Nothing outstanding but a good example of the style. donovan1983 (52), Denver, Colorado, USA Apr 15, 2009 Dark amber with a quickly disappearing off-white head. In appearance, a "pale ale" it is far from. Malty, sweet aroma with some grassy hops. Bready, sweet malt flavour with a bit of hops to balance it out. Somewhat short, sweet finish with a slight sweet aftertaste and slight hop flavourings lingering. Medium body and well carbonated. A good, pleasant bitter that’s enjoyable to drink. curly (548), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Apr 14, 2009 Pours dark amber with an inch thick beige head. Caramel and citrus spice aroma. Mostly sweet malt taste with a hop finish and some roast characters. Pretty well balanced, has a very slight sour mash taste as well. dwaggs2 (534), Lee’s Summit, Missouri, USA Apr 13, 2009 Bottle. Poured a copper color with a decent head. Aroma was malts, grass and sweet caramel. Flavor was some bitters and caramel flavors. Medium bodied. Decent beer. kuphish (150), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Apr 5, 2009 Bottle. Poured a large, rocky-frothy, tan head with a clear, copper body. Malty aroma of caramel and some floral, herby, earthy hops. Flavor was of caramel with some dark (raisin/prune) fruit and moderate hop bitterness. Fairly light body with lively carbonation for the style. Overall a very sessionable British pale ale that I could drink daily. Excellent.
