Captures the soul of beer. It has a maltiness that reminds you that beer is a product of the soil. Balance of malt and hops.

Bottle... Poured a foggy ruby with an off-white head. Malt and wine-like aroma. Smooth palate with flavors of cocoa, toasted malt, toffee and subtle hops that make it really nice. Pretty tasty. Sorta leafy malt in the finish.

Clear reddish/copper color with a thin white head a low carbonation. Aroma of green apples, caramel and diacetyl and a little of an old stale pub aroma that I find endearing but I am not sure what it is. Straight ahead flavor of malt and caramel and a fair amount of butterscotch with a little bitterness in the end. A bit tart with some chalkiness also. Well balanced, clean and easy to drink.

Bottle. Dark copper color. Sweet, malty aroma, with similar flavor. Was not as impressed by this beer as I have been of other beers from this brewery. Decent drinking with a meal.

Sampled at the Sam Smith tasting at Blacklick Wine and Spirits on 2.5.09. Pours a deep amber with a medium off-white head. Malty aroma with some caramel influence and hops. Caramelly semi-sweet flavor up front with hops in the finish. Not bad.

Flavoursome malt-driven English-style pale ale. Amber colour, large frothy head. Lively aroma, bursting with hops, caramel malt and biscuits. Medium-bodied and earthy. Caramel malts on the tongue and a dry bitter finish. However, it’s a fairly simple brew, with little of the complexity of some of their other ales. (Bottle)

55 cL bottle, pint glass, 55 degrees F. Tall, creamy, off-white head is well lasting and sits on a clear brown-red body. Cookie, molasses malt (M); flowery hops (L); raisin and toffee aromas. Rich aroma is quite pleasant. Flavor shows hints of staleness and has a grainy aspect not present in the aroma. Lightly sweet, lightly acidic flavor becomes a lightly sweet, lightly bitter, moderately acidic, lightly unclean finish. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. The bottom line is: s'alright.
