COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Handcrafted at Melbourn Brosí tiny brewery set in a time warp in Stamford using the old manually operated brewing equipment. finest organically grown barley and wheat are used to create a complex ale which having undergone primary and secondary fermentation with different yeasts and extended maturation, is taken to Samuel Smithís small, independent British brewery at Tadcaster. There it is blended with pure organic apricot fruit juice and a previously cellared organic brew - creating an unparalleled fruit ale. The smooth distinctive character of the matured ale serves as the perfect counterpoint to the pure organic fruit juice.

A clear and bright straw gold colour, thereís a small head of foam that dissipates quickly, leaving very little lacing behind. Can the smell get any more apricot-y than this? Wow. Nice mix of sweet and tart going on. The taste leans more to the sweet side but itís not even close to being too sweet. Nice tartish notes help with the balancing act and the bit of wheat I get also helps. Love this. With the very low bubble activity seen, I thought maybe the carbonation would be too low but itís just right.

Bottle in Colpitts, Durham. Deep golden colour with a diminishing white head. Unsurprisingly the aroma is all apricot. Some bitterness comes through at first before a big sweet, juicy apricot finish. this was surprisingly enjoyable as I donít really like apricots!

550 ml bottle bought at Gorgeous Wine & Cigar in Yuen Long.

Looks: Translucent apricot - honey amber colour with traces of yeast sediments; Three-quarter finger head and soapy white foam which last for about 40 seconds; Small sticky lacing with notable fizzy carbonation.

Aroma: Fragrant apricot jam, sugar, fresh apricot, orange peels, floral nectar, light malt and faint grass.

Taste: Nice strong sweet + tart apricot flesh / jam and juice, orange marmalade, orange peels, molasses, apple wine, strong tannic, light ale malt, light earth, lemon and light grass.

Body: Mid to light, with thin and slightly slick palate.

Palate: An initial burst of refreshing and very rich apricot jam and flesh. Sweetness is strong but was instantly balanced by equally strong tartness, followed by orange marmalade, and then the apple cider taste and strong tannic sat in. This is amazing!

Hoppiness: Light grass nose, lemony and light grass taste. Bitterness is replaced by chop licking strong tannic finish.

After Taste: Fairly dry, nicely sweet and tart to mouth.

Comments: Looking for an excellent fruit beer? Look no further: rich smell and taste of refreshing apricot and orange marmalade, with good balance of cider-like tartness and tannic. A very complex fruit ale and worth savouring each sip. Highly recommended!

Pours a pale golden yellow with a white head. Aroma intense with fresh apricots. Taste is very sweet followed by a slightly tart orange citrus turn. Ends up a little to much towards the sweet note. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Instant "wow" upon first sniff and then a bigger "WOW" upon first sip. This is like drinking fresh, crisp, sweet apricots perfectly in season. Reminiscent of an English Perry with more freshness, sweetness and bite. The color is apricot in hue (obviously right?), the liquid flows nicely into the Spigelau austrian crystal beer snifter I used to serve this gem of a brew. If you are into fruit brews, lambics, ciders or just want to try something new and delicious, Sam Smith is your boy. Not overly sweet or overly fruity...great Sunday sipper. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from a bottle and shared it is a light golden beer with a slight head. The aroma isdoughy with alcoholic overtones. The taste is bitter sweet at first then the apricot comes through and lingers on the palate.
