Rather plain and ordinary for a Samuel Smith ale. Smelled like an English ale but did not have much more flavor than Coors original. I was quite let down by this one.

For a strong ale it seems to lack flavour. fruity malt aroma and flavour and a forgetable finish.

Malty and WATERY.. Needs some flavor. Needs a kick in the butt to wake it up. And needs more hops

The most disappointing of Smith’s products. Clear. Nice head, very bitter, and somewhat malty. But wholly unremarkable.

Wasn’t what to expect. But it was pretty good. Nothing spectacular. Interesting aroma.

Light pale golden, moderate white foam, slight fizziness. Rich aroma, malty raisin prune fruitiness. Further attempts just reveal deeper malt. Fizzy palate but still with that SS typical buttery smoothness, fairly light in body. <P> Malt is instantly noticeable in the flavor, verging towards dark fruit but mellowing down to a red apple with some butterscotch. Nice little hop bite in the finish is welcoming (especially since I didn’t expect it). Rounds out well with a sweet and sour aftertaste.

A nice beer but not a benchmark beer as several SS beers are.

Fruity, hoppy aroma. Amber, white frothy head, fair lace. Sweet, malty, hoppy. Short finish, bit bitter in the end.

Not bad, cloudy amber color with a sweet aroma, I thought I detected some peach notes. Quite sweet flavor with light hopping. Reminded me a little too much of Bass I think. Definitely good though for people into organic foods.

Re-Rate 04/19/02: A clear gold color, frothy white head and sheets of lace. Malt nose, very clean and fresh. Slightly sweet at the start, the top is light, the finish is dry, lightly acidic, lightly hopped, very refreshing beer, a bit light for me, but quite good none the less.

UPDATED: DEC 15, 2007 (12/15/07, 12oz bottle, thanks perigrinari) Medium white head atop clear light amber body. Aroma is medium sweet, butterscotch/caramel. Taste is medium sweet, caramel/butterscotch, light earthy, wood, sourness. Smooth light-medium body. (5/3/5/3/10)

(4/11/02) Frothy head and a nice golden body. faint pine aroma, but the taste is missing something. perhaps some oomph? it’s not a bad beer, but it has much more promise than it delivers. (6/3/6/3/12)
