3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance: dark cola brown with two fingers of foamy, creamy light tan head and lots of residual lacing. Aroma: milk chocolate, jordan almonds, vanilla, and cream. Taste: sweet, creamy milk chocolate, cocoa powder, condensed milk, with a hint of roasty espresso way underneath. Finish: lingering sweetness, with a lactic tang. Notes: Definitely the sweetest of the chocolate stouts in my experience; almost too sweet, but still enjoyable. It’s like the beer equivalent of a chocolate pudding cup. Smooth, creamy, and drinkable palate.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Samuel Smith’s Organic Chocolate Stout has a very thick, beige head and an extremely dark brown appearance, with lots of heavy lacing rings left behind. The aroma is chocolate forward, and that’s about it- sweet, rich chocolate. Taste is the same, sweet, rich, tangy chocolate, some bread, some malt, and almost no bitterness, except for a touch of it at the very end of the sip. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Samuel Smith’s Organic Chocolate Stout finishes wet, chocolaty, and sweet. If you didn’t know it, you’d never guess that this was a beer of any sort. Overall, for what it is, I will say that it is most excellent. RJT

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a dark brown, ruby tinge, cream colored head. The aroma is earthy, brown sugar, bosco. The flavor is earthy, unsweetened chocolate, light brown sugar. Not nearly as sweet as I would have expected. The finish is a bittersweet chocolate, light pine. Medium in body, slighty thin, and thin for the style. OK.

A very good beer. At 5% an exception al beer. It has a weird weird flavor. Not chocolate almost a mint... If they called this chocolate mint I would had a higher rating... flavor chocolate is gerat. Its still a nice brew for sure.

Big bottle purchased at Giant Eagle on Rte. 8 in Pittsburgh. Hearing good things about this one I decided to invest and am happy ever since. The best I’ve had in a long while and certainly worthy of a perfect score. Can’t wait to taste it fresh from the tap instead of the bottle.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Aroma of cocoa powder, chocolate syrup and white toast. Taste is very sweet. You almost want to pair it with a dessert. Taste consists of chocolate syrup, dark chocolate, prunes, and that slight tang that all Samuel Smith beers have. Body is medium. Level of carbonation is low.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
550 ml shared amongst friends into "juice" glasses. Pours brown-black with no head at all. Nose is all chocolate, if I wasn’t spoiled by southern tier choklat I would say its the most chocolate on the nose of a beer. So this one gets second place for chocolate aroma. It really has the cola like appearance right down the red tinges on the fringe of the glass and you can kind of see through it. Taste is roast, bitter chocolate, sugar in the raw, and a little bit of espresso. Mouthfeel is quite smooth and very moderate almost thin. Carbonation is very low as well, leaving to to taste a bit like chocolate milk all though no lactose sugar is detectable. Finish is mild and sweet. Enjoyable but I wouldn’t seek it out over choklat.

Dark brown/black with a medium tan head. Amazing chocolate aroma of cocoa, sweetness, and very light roastiness. Mild cocoa flavor, with light sweetness and creaminess. Light bitter finish.
