Brewed with well water (the original well, sunk in 1758, is still in use with the hard well water being drawn from 85 feet underground), the gently roasted organic cocoa extract impart a delicious, smooth and creamy character, with inviting deep flavours and a delightful finish - this is a marriage of satisfying stout and luxurious chocolate.

Bottle at the Princess Louise, Holborn. Lively and black. Big creamy beige/tan head. Lots of carbonation. There isn’t much chocolate in the aroma. More liquorice, a bit of coffee and alcoholic astringency. The taste is pretty good: bitterness and chocolatey sweetness giving way to a gentle bitterness in the finish. Fairly poor mouthfeel, weaker than I’d like. An odd and unwelcome metallic aftertaste. Firmly in the ’ok but not great’ category. And certainly not cheap.

Pours a deep dark brown. Almost black. It has a thick brown foamy head. Aroma of cocoa. Taste like Yoohoo. Very chocolatey with a hint of roast. An interesting Stout.

Pours a dark brown with a foamy tan head. Aroma is sublime: sweet dark chocolate and hints of fruit. Flavor is chocolate, though not too sweet, with just a touch of bitterness. Delicious.

From pint bottle. Pours a deep dark brown with a small lighter highlight at the edge and a 1 finger cappuccino-like head. Aromas of chocolate, vanilla, stewed fruit, cherry and a little milk coffee. Taste is dark fruit at the front before rich chocolate and vanilla emerge and dominate the palate. Creamy mouthfeel. Lingering milk chocolate finish with a touch of vanilla in the aftertaste. Love it.

55 cl bottle @ Kaunis Kampela. Aroma is rather nice with sweet chocolate and vanilla. Flavour has artifical chocolate, some cocoa and licorice. Good, could be even better with stronger body. The artifical chocolate essences start to disturb a bit at the end of the glass.

Good dose of dark chocolate here and a decent drink. Pours black with mocha head and lacing. Finishes sweet and bitter. Some roast, though lighter and tempered. Bottle from grape and gourmet enjoyed on Rehoboth beach.

Pours an almost jet black ruby red with very little head that was tan color. The aroma was of a nice sweet chocolate. The flavor was of a nice chocolate with vanilla notes to it. The body was on the medium side with a slight bitter aftertaste. Overall a good brew.

UPDATED: MAY 13, 2015 Bordering on perfection, this sweet stout is sublime. The aroma is strictly cocoa, sweet but not cloying. The flavor follows with added drinkability from notes of coffee and a vague but distinguishable bitterness.
