Brewed with well water (the original well, sunk in 1758, is still in use with the hard well water being drawn from 85 feet underground), the gently roasted organic cocoa extract impart a delicious, smooth and creamy character, with inviting deep flavours and a delightful finish - this is a marriage of satisfying stout and luxurious chocolate.

From a 550ml bottle on 19/2/2015. Pours the darkest brown with a big head. Has a strong aroma with lots of chocolate, chocolate syrup, cocoa and vanilla. It’s super sweet in the mouth - again loads of milk chocolate, cocoa and vanilla, with a hint of dark fruit in the background. A very gentle, barely perceptible bitterness presents at the end. Has a creamy palate and average carbonation. This is one of the sweetest beers I’ve ever encountered - a true dessert experience. I tend to like sweet, and quite enjoyed this, but it does taste a little unnatural and could be a bit better balanced. Still, quite a singular experience.

From bottle. Dark brown color. Aroma is cocoa powder, malt, and lactose. Taste is sweet cocoa, evaporated milk, oatmeal, and light roast. Smooth drinking with a rich chocolate aftertaste.

Bottle. Deep brown body with a medium-sized mocha colored head. Strong cocoa powder / chocolate milk aroma, it sort of smells like chocolate flavored protein powder (for when you’re bulking (not fat)), with some more subtle nutmeg and evaporated milk notes that become more noticeable as it warms. Medium body, sweet and rich and creamy the mouth, not unlike like chocolate milk again. Finish is cloying and syrupy. The sugariness and simple dark caramel maltiness don’t work for me and the protein drink chocolate character doesn’t go far.

Bottled. Deep brown colour with a beigeish brown head. Aroma is chocolaty, some slight toasted notes as well as a nice nuttiness to it. Flavour is similar, but also has some slight hops, syrup, sugar and mild toffee to it. On the sweeter side of things, but still has some elements to balance the sweetness up.

Bottle. Dark brown pour with a beige head. Aroma is malty chocolate, very sweet and a little boozy with a slight bitter cocoa note. Flavour is sweet and malty, creamy chocolate with just a hint of roasty cocoa. A little too sweet and a touch thin in my opinion, but a very tasty chocolate stout.

Pours an opaque dark brown/garnet with a nice light tan head. Aroma is chocolate candy bars. Taste is sweet dark roasted malt, those cold milk, chocolate and coffee drinks, a bit of burnt caramel and some very mild hoppiness. Very good and refreshing, but not sure it’s my drink - - wait, maybe with a little vodka!

ENG: 550ml bottle from Liquor Mart in Winnipeg. Very dark brown, almost black with some red highlights and medium, dark-beige head. Heavy chocolate and cocoa aromas with hints of caramel. Very strong sweet chocolate taste (reminds me of hot chocolate beverages), milk, mixed with lots of caramel and malts. There might be some coffee too and a bit of bitter. Low carbonation, medium to full bodied, oily and creamy. Overall typical english style beer - no hops, just caramel - a bit too sweet for me :)

PL: Butelka 550ml kupiona w Liquor Mart w Winnipeg. Gdzieś w tle też kawa i drobna gorzka goryczka. Niskie nasycenie, średnie do wysokiego ciało, oleiste i kremowe. Podsumowując typowe angielskie piwo - brak chmieli, za to dużo karmelu - jak dla mnie za słodko :)

This beer smells fantastic! I just wish I could say the same about the taste. It is too sweet for me, i needed more stout and less chocolate. That being said I think the beer was well made and had it been less sweet I would have enjoyed more

(Samuel Smiths Organic Chocolate Stout) Bottle 550 ml at home, served into a snifter, ABV 5% Very dark brown colour on the body, almost black. Head is a bit taller than one finger, thick and creamy, tan coloured, with good retention, leaving medium lacing on the glass. Aroma has plenty of chocolate, cocoa, chocolate milk. Sweet taste, again lots of chocolate, cocoa, chocolate cake, light perfume, chocolate milk, light vanilla. Medium body, carbonation on the low side but fits it well. Great, tasty beer, a real dessert in a glass.
