Ingredients: Water; Organic malted barley; Organic cane sugar; Yeast; Organic hops; Organic cocoa extract; Carbon dioxide
Brewed with well water (the original well, sunk in 1758, is still in use with the hard well water being drawn from 85 feet underground), the gently roasted organic cocoa extract impart a delicious, smooth and creamy character, with inviting deep flavours and a delightful finish - this is a marriage of satisfying stout and luxurious chocolate.

550ml bottle: BBD Nov 2013. Poured on 26 Aug 2013 at home into an Abbot Ale glass tankard. Lovely dark brew: on top a huge tanned crown of foam. Chocolatey and stouty! Really nice, I like chocolate and I like stouts. Rich, at times creamy, wholesome and sweet: a very, very good beer. Haven’t checked my scores, but this is the best beer I’ve had from Sam Smith’s so far.

Chocolate, chocolate, more chocolate. Sweet like hot cocoa, not bitter/roasty. Very dark brown, light tan head. Has a little creaminess to it, but body is pretty thin.

Bottle from Cockney Pub, Aarhus. Black with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, roasted malt, chocolate, cocoa and vanilla. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet and roasted moderate bitter finish. Too much sweetness in both aroma and taste for my liking. 240813

Extreme chocolate on the nose. Black in color. Taste is of chocolate and lots of it. Taste ends in roasted malt all while being deliciously creamy.

aroma: chocolate, right away. yoohoo, light cocoa, estery, chocolate milk. nearly opaque brown with a thick rocky off-white head. mild cocoa notes, though dominant. gentle sweetness that fades to light cocoa flavor. smooth and creamy. yoohoo/light cocoa flavor from start to finish to aftertaste. no bitterness seems to puncture the sweet cocoa characteristics of this smooth, soft, gentle ale.

Likened to chocolatey root beer, a great aroma of chocolate but a sweeter body with heavy sarsaparilla notes.
