Bottle received as a gift. Pours black with thick light brown head. Strong chocolate flavours, lot of sweetness. A surprisingly easy drinker for a stout

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
16 oz. bottle share thanks to Kacey. Appearance: finger white khaki head, chocolate brown color, clear, good lacing. Aroma: chocolate roast, coffee, caramel. Palate: full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Taste: sweet throughout, great balance and not overwhelming sweet. Overall, very good beer, first Samuel Smith’s and definitely not last.

Dark brown. Fat head, stays for the whole glass. Lots of chocolate, malts. Fairly light on the palate. Great.

I rate beers I think significantly better than average, simple as that. I am not into showing off through bloviating. :)

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Approximately 5 oz. pour from a 12 oz. bottle, consumed on 5-23-14. Strong aroma features scents of milk chocolate candy bar, Cadbury Egg (chocolate and cream), and malted milk balls. A bit of an artificial, Tootsie Roll-like smell. Pours dark brown with a moderate amount of light tan head and good lacing. Flavor of chocolate with a surprising hint of sour lemon and some bitterness. Lightly bitter aftertaste. Medium body. Totally unremarkable and forgettable palate effects. I was hoping for better, but it’s certainly far from offensive.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This was a really nice sweet stout. I have had some that are too much like chocolate milk, but this really balanced it well with its dark malt and coffee flavours. Nice creamy mouth feel, with no real bitterness to speak off, then finishes nice and sweet.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Very rich initial chocolate taste and great stout aftertaste. It reminds me of Decadent from Atwater, not sure which is better.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark black body, kind of thin, foamy brown head, pours like cola. Also has a touch of cola in the aroma, very milk chocolate. Taste is sweet chocolate and berries, maybe even cherries. Palate is a bit thin. Overall a pretty nice beer.
