Brewed with well water (the original well, sunk in 1758, is still in use with the hard well water being drawn from 85 feet underground), the gently roasted organic cocoa extract impart a delicious, smooth and creamy character, with inviting deep flavours and a delightful finish - this is a marriage of satisfying stout and luxurious chocolate.

I had this and Youngís double chocolate in the same day. I figured they would be similar. How wrong I was. This stuff is twice as sweet. Chocolate pudding , malt and yet more chocolate. Lovely stuff but I couldnít drink more than one of these. Great after dinner or indeed as a final beer when you are sick of drinking the same stuff all night.

(550 ml bottle from Kervans) Pours black with two finger tan head. Good retention and lace. Aroma is a slightly perfumy chocolate. Oily texture, soft carbonation, medium body with a sweet finish. Flavour follows the nose and is predominantly sweet. A bit too perfumy for my taste. Girlfriend says: "Itís okay but the bottle is a bit too big."

Dark amber brown, almost black with amber cream head Milk chocolate blasts on to the nose followed by warm vanilla notes and a touch of malt. Light bodied, with minimal carbonation. Very smooth. Rich milk chocolatety flavor accompanied by fruit notes and some sweetness. Overall, one glass is plenty as the richness of this beer saturates the senses to a joyful near gluttonous extent. Enjoy with bold cheddars, a bowl of steel cut oatmeal (one of my personal favorites) rich red fruits, creamy desserts and, of course, chocolate. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Recommended by wob bartender who became responsible for it being served there. Huge choclate aroma. very thick and sweet palate. Like drinking a dark chocolate bar. no alcohol noticeable. This is the stout for the sweets lover. Too much chocolate for me, unable to finish a whole bottle.

Black colour, beige head. Aroma of chocolate, industrial bottled chocolate sauce, more chocolate. Sweet flavour, chocolate and chocolate sauce. Sweet finish, and -surprise- chocolate sauce.

550ml bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a very dark ruby color that isnít perfectly opaque. The head forms about a three finger (via aggressive pour) mocha shade. Itís creamy texture and strong retention are fairly impressive. The center of the head seems to collapse faster than the edges of the glass. S: Big dark chocolate notes abound. Touches of hard water also about, but this one is all about the chocolate, for better or worse. Make that better - I really like a good chocolate stout when itís done right. T: The chocolate character takes on two different qualities: a dark chocolate note and a lesser cocoa powder undercurrent. Touches of roasted barley, minerals, and even a bit of hops help balance out all that chocolate on the finish. A ridiculously sweet brew, but I donít mind given how great the chocolate character is. M: Itís a bit drier than youíd expect from a dessert-forward beer - luckily it simply causes it not to cloy (so) badly after consumption. Still, it *is* sweet as fuck, so bring your sweet tooth. O: This is what Youngís Double Chocolate Stout should have been: a dessert beer with lots of chocolate yet just enough depth to keep it interesting. Did I say dessert beer? Yeah, because thatís exactly what is - luckily itís so good I donít mind drinking this one before dinner.

Bottle. Pours a dark black with massive tan head that leaves spotty lace. Smell is milk chocolate, toffee, vanilla. Taste is sweet milk chocolate, lactose, sweet vanilla, cocoa. Itís very very sweet and while it grows just a bit too much for me in the end. Feels like the vanilla that I detect is added by a dropper at time of bottling. Not bad at all just too much to finish on my own.

Bottled @ Drie Dorstige Herten. Dark brown color, short head. Aroma of chocolat, coconut, hint of roast. Very sweet coconut and chocolat, a bit artificial actually. Very sweet in taste, too sweet. First sips are ok, but Iím glad I dont have to drink a whole bottle by myself.

Chocolate aroma. Opaque pour with creamy white head. Medium body, with very smooth mouthfeel. Nice chocolate finish. Very good and drinkable too.
