Ingredients: Water; Organic malted barley; Organic cane sugar; Yeast; Organic hops; Organic cocoa extract; Carbon dioxide
Brewed with well water (the original well, sunk in 1758, is still in use with the hard well water being drawn from 85 feet underground), the gently roasted organic cocoa extract impart a delicious, smooth and creamy character, with inviting deep flavours and a delightful finish - this is a marriage of satisfying stout and luxurious chocolate.

500ml bottle $3.99. Dark black color, cream colored head, sticky lacing. Aroma is cocoa, kind of sickly sweet, hints of vanilla. Flavor is full of chocolate, cocoa, but that sweetness if there and its cloying. They captured the chocolate well but this tastes like it has sugar added to it, not my thing at all. 500 ml bottle poured a clear reddish brown with a lasting tan head. Aromas of milk chocolate, coconut, vanilla and carmel. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of milk chocolate, vanilla and coconut with a smooth dry lingering chocolate finish.

Dark in color, with heavy notes of chocolate, oats, and hints of coffee as well on the nose. Taste of heavy chocolate, great taste overall with an awesome finish on the palate. Overall a very tasty beer, was very happy to have found this.

Bottle. Clear brownish black with a thick, foamy, light tan head and some nice lacing. Aroma is mostly fresh cocoa nibs with some light caramel. Flavor is more rich cocoa, some maltiness and there is some light acidity but it complements the beer. Medium body with a smooth mouth feel. Really good chocolate beer, tastes like fresh cocoa nibs as opposed to extract. The stout seems lost in all the chocolate aroma and flavor, I’d call this a veg/spice/herb beer.

550ml bottle from Market district in robinson, I never had a Samuel Smith’s product that I didn’t like, this might be one of their best! An organic beer done right. Black pour, tan head, aroma of chocolate, roasty cocoa. Taste of strong chocolate (not overly done), toast, lightly bitter, creamy, medium body, smooth finish. Excellent beer!

Chocolate and caramel aroma. Pours a dark dark brown with a long lasting foamy head. It has a dark rich chocolate and roasted malt flavor with a smooth palate. Very, but not overly, sweet with very little bitterness. Medium to heavy bodied. This makes an excellent dessert beer.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. It pours out black as night with a silky brown head that erupts than simmers down to a ring. Chocolate explodes into the nose to the point that it makes me think of Hershey’s Chocolate syrup. The body is medium and creamy. The taste is full of chocolate with a medium bitterness. If a shared this with someone who was not a beer drinker they would think they were drinking a chocolate drink. But it isn’t bad.

Bottle purchased at Aficionado’s. Dark brown pour with a medium tan head. Aroma of chocolate syrup, malt and some roast. Chocolate and dark fruit flavor with some roast before a sweet finish. Pretty good.

550ml bottle poured into snifter. Pours black with a large, creamy tan head that leaves decent amount of lacing. Huge chocolate/cocoa aroma with marshmellow, vanilla, caramel and malts. Taste is like the aroma, but even bigger! Samuel Smith needs to start aging some of this in whiskey barrels immediately! I don’t think I’ve ever tasted a beer more deserving of being whiskey barrel aged in my life. This just keeps giving more and more flavor as it warms on the tongue! Medium to full body with a slick but somewhat creamy texture with active but not overbearing carbonation and a long, lingering chocolate finish. Amazing, perfect balance on everything about this beer. One of the best chocolate stouts ever made! Samuel Smith does it again!
