2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Ar: Intense roasty dark chocolate, with some blueberry and lemon.
Ap: Black with slight brown highlights on the edges - large light mocha head with great retention and a thick trail of lacing.
T: Semi-sweet up front with lots of cocoa - slightly tangy - berry notes - medium bitterness with some roast astringency - chalky finish with lingering cocoa that is somewhat anticeptic and artificial tasting.
P: Medium body, smooth and silky - carbonation is medium-high - finish is dry.
O: This beer promised a lot - looked and smelled great - but, when tasting, after the initial chocolate flavor the beer becomes astringent and artificial tasting.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pour is a almost black with a thin tan head. Aroma is deffinatly a rich chocolate. Not much else but dang that smells good. Flavor is again all things chocolate. A little sourness at the end but that is a minor complaint. This is all about the cocoa used. Will satisfy the sweet tooth but its also not overly sweet. Solid.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle split with a friend; poured my allotment into a snifter. As the beer pours it looks thin like muddy water, but as the beer sits in the glass, it take son a much more foreboding blackness. A small beige head rest atop. The aroma of this beer is insane. Sweet cream, vanilla beans, chocolate syrup, butterscotch - crazy sweet smell. This reminds me of an overly-sweet coffee drink.
Super creamy mouthfeel. Carbonation is light, but not overly thin. The sweetness carries over to the flavor quite so. A huge wallop of vanilla, chocolate milk, syrup, marshmallows, whipped cream, etc. Bordering on cloying. This is too much for me I think. I can’t find any aspect of this that makes it a ’beer.’ There are better example of sweet stouts that carry some residual sweetness, but don’t compromise on the base beer flavors. I’m glad I split this bottle. An entire bottle would have been a chore for me. This has ’dessert’ and ’ice cream’ written all over it.
No on to check my blood glucose...

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Aroma is chocolate, malts and a hint of marsh-mellows/bananas. The flavor is chocolate/cocoa, malts, bananas/cream/vanilla/marsh-mellows and a mild tartness in the finish.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Black pour, short head but good head retention.
Aroma is vanilla/vanilla cookies, strong extract presence in taste and aroma.I guess its cocoa but its more vaniila extract to me with some chocolate notes. Some nice cocoa notes come out nicely with warming.
TAste is strong "cocoa" extract more in vanilla nature. I like vannilla alot but...........With chocolate and sweet with cola tones from the extract.Almost cola finish.Thats the problem with extracts and flavorings or sometimes spices, they can come off as a cola like taste. This isnt cloying cola like but its almost extract cloying as it dominates this stouts potential. Pretty good stout otherwise, just wish I could taste it more beyond the extract flavor.

1.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
550ml bottle, mostly to myself. My friend Andrew only had a sample. As far the first 4 sips of this beer go, it’s pretty tasty. But more than that is just way too much sweetness to handle. Definite chocolate syrup aroma. I just wish there was a bit of bitter to counterbalance that super sweetness, it’s hard to drink. Clear very dark brown color, light brown head. Some lace. Medium body, lighter carbonation. Little cola flavor. So sweet, in a bad way. Not for me.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours thick, but not oily, black with a full creamy head. Bold, sweet chocolate and some coffee is on the nose. Smooth and creamy bodied. Palate is obviously chocolate, transitioning from sweet milk chocolate to dark chocolate at the end. Cherry and some minor tobacco notes develop as the beer warms and the cherry becomes more pronounced throughout.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dark brown color with a finger of mocha foam.... nice lacing. Aromas are sweet chocolate milk, cocoa crispies and a touch of toasted malts. Nice chocolate on the palate as well, pretty sweet but tasty. Not quite as thick and creamy as I expected but the flavor is right on ! Touch of malty earthy notes that bitter out slightly in the depths of the finish ! Nice Beer.

UPDATED: DEC 11, 2012 Bottle. Excited to try this 5% stout. Nose of vanilla, cocoa, and lactose. Taste... fake, sweet, lactose, & cocoa. Straight yuck and drain pour. Sorry this is a failure and I love me a good sweet stout or choco stout. Scroll past my friends.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Stirchley Wines; pours almost black with an off white head, chocolate aroma is given off during pour, tastes of the milk that is left behind after coco pops. Really impressive mouth feel silky smooth just the right level of carbonation.
