Bottle: Dark, deep brown color with ruby edges. Light-tan head forms & settles into a foamy skin quickly. Full force chocolate aroma. Smells like a liquid chocolate candy bar or straight up chocolate milk. That’s all. Chocolate. Maybe a touch of nuttiness? But mostly chocolate. Flavor is the same. Sweet, sweet chocolate. Like a Hershey’s chocolate bar doused in chocolate milk. Body is a little thinner than I’d expect or prefer. This is tasty in the sense that it tastes like chocolate milk, & chocolate milk tastes good. However it’s a bit on the sweet side for an entire bottle to be thoroughly enjoyable.

UPDATED: APR 5, 2015 Bottle from Foods Plus. Nice cocoa aroma. Color is a dark, rich mahogany--almost opaque with a nice, beige, lasting head, and fair lacing that doesn’t linger. Full, thick bodied with soft carbonation and a long finish. Taste was sweet as expected but had some harsh undertones like a liquor--not the decadent, dessert-like treat you’d expect from a chocolate stout. I can’t really say I enjoyed it. If you’re looking for a nice chocolate treat, much better off going with Southern Tier Mokah or Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout. If you enjoy beers for characteristics other than taste, then this one has it. If you want it to taste good, look elsewhere.

ClubGonzo (4722) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAR 21, 2015
Bottle from Utobeer, London. Pours a deep brown, near-black body with a medium light beige head. Nose is chocolate, vanilla, cocoa beans, hints of citric peel and almond essence. Taste is vanilla, cocoa, almonds, mild coconut and hints of muscovado and nuts. Light to medium body and carbonation. A bit too sweet and strange for me, but fair enough.
