Rich, decadent aroma is primarily chocolate with an undertone of brandy and fruit - like sniffing a Hershey bar that’s been dipped into Grand Marnier. Pours a deep, warm, opaque sable with a thick and rather persistent light tan head. Flavor fills the mouth with sweet chocolate, fruity and brandy notes plus hints of roast malt and caramel. Smooth, syrupy texture has firm body and a good amount of fizz. A perfect dessert beer, lip-smacking and most enjoyable.

How did I miss this? From a bottle smells like what else but chocolate. Nice big dark pour without much head. Yes, has good co2 and is surprizingly more palatable than most domestic choco beers. I bet those american guys could learn something from this brew. Glad to have tastedthis. A many of the attributes of dark chocolate, with just a tad of alky in there. You know, I’ve had a few different sammy smiths styles and all of them behaved like a gentleman, just like this one.

Great stuff. Milk chocolate in the aroma and taste, a bit of caramel and smoked plums in chocolate. Big brownish head with dark brown body. Smooth, medium feel on the palate.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
500ml bottle of Samuel Smith’s Organic Chocolate Stout in a nonic.
Pours with a weak head over a very dark brown body.
The aroma of chocolate clomes out loud and clear. Rather like hot chocolate without the extra dairy, and some chocolate nibs.
Flavor: sweet, perhaps just a touch above optimum. Some dark roast in the aftertaste but largely masked by the chocolate before then.
Feel: Medium body and near medium carbonation; Creamy smooth yet with an undesired sharpness.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Flaska från SB. Mörkt brun och högt ljusbeige skum. Stor söt lite kvalmig men ganska trevlig kakaodoft. I a f fall än Störtbeckers variant.

500ml bottle? All to myself, bought at World Market or Trader Joes (I don’t remember offhand). Poured a creamy dark brown color with a large brown head. Aroma was pretty much all chocolate upfront, with some roasted and toasty malt notes. Probably a bit like a lightly malted chocolate milkshake if you had to pinpoint anything in particular. Flavor was milk chocolate candy, some roasted malt. Creamy, easy to drink. Not quite as good as I remember Youngs to be, but pretty close.

Very, very strong aroma of milk chocolate. Beutiful stuff. Smooth, low carbonation, begging to be drank. Nice feel on the palate, but very short unfortunately.

Pours dark mahogany with a slight tan head. Aroma is slightly metallic. Taste is sweet with bitterness in the middle and a nice smooth finish. Sweet chocolates with some malted notes. Pretty darn good sweet stout.

Great beer. This is such a unique stout that it should be shared with friends. My favorite part about it is the carbonation. You can see it and for such a smooth brew with carbonation... amazing. Wonderful chocolate all around. smell, taste, ect. Old brew, great brew!

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours an opaque mahogany into the glass, with a thin tan ring that leaves little suds or head. The nose is of beautifully crafted chocolates, cocoa and silky, dark bitter chocolate. Flavors are sweet, with chocolates and caramel abounding. Such a gorgeously sweet flavor that combines with all of the aromatics gorgeously. The finish is of a fine, silky bitter baker's chocolate. The mouthfeel is full and velvety on the palate, with a medium-full body and a silk-laden mouthfeel that goes down the pallet wonderfully smooth. So complex and substantive, this may be the absolute best chocolate stout I have ever had. And that goes a long, long way with me.
