Bottle: Filtered
Ingredients: Water; Organic malted barley; Organic cane sugar; Yeast; Organic hops; Organic cocoa extract; Carbon dioxide
Brewed with well water (the original well, sunk in 1758, is still in use with the hard well water being drawn from 85 feet underground), the gently roasted organic cocoa extract impart a delicious, smooth and creamy character, with inviting deep flavours and a delightful finish - this is a marriage of satisfying stout and luxurious chocolate.

Dark brown pour - soapy, moderately thick lace - nose is all bittersweet chocolate/cocoa nibs, with light touches of coconut, vanilla and a hint of oak - medium soft carbonation in the mouth - body is just a little light - loads of sweet chocolate in the flavor, coconut, vanilla bean - there is a moderate tartness and acidity through the middle that balances the sweetness fairly well - a touch of damp wood in the finish, with lingering coconut - interesting and tasty brew, but I would like a tad more heft.

Aroma is chocolate, mocha, light caramel and vanilla beans. Taste is very sweet and rich malts with obvious chocolate and syrup like body. Light licorice and very light base hops here.like their itber beers, the ground water is fantastic. Appearance is black with a thin pearl head that retains fairly well

The favorite chocolate stout in our house. I've got some on my shelf waiting for my next bottle to fill a tall and frosty glass. :-) ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Beautiful black with deep ruby undertones when held to the light. A thin tan stout head dissipates quickly and leaves little lacing. Nose is chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate. In the mouth, there’s vanilla bean and brown sugar as well. Combined with creamy body, this is almost a chocolate milk shake, with just a faint hint of bitter cocoa. The finish is not unreservedly sweet, but avoids the harshness of some brews in this category. All in all, a great success for lovers of milk chocolate yet respectable for those who prefer dark.

550ml bottle from Beer Station, Xiamen. Pours black with a thin off white head. Aroma of chocolate, taste of chocolate, finish of chocolate with a little bitterness, not too sweet. Very nice.

Really nice chocolate stout. The only thing I did not care for in this beer was the overly-sweet cocoa finish. The beer poured black in color with a really fluffy and soft brown head. The aroma was awesome, with real and natural chocolate, some hints of vanilla bean, chocolate malt, cocoa beans and light hops. There is plenty of natural chocolate flavors, as well as light malt and a hit of hops.

Bottle, 550 ml. Pours jet black with a significant amount of foamy tan head. Good head retention and some lacing. Aroma is dominated by strong dairy and chocolate notes. Cocoa butter, cocoa powder, milk chocolate, vanilla, cream, coconut, caramel undertones, brown sugar and molasses are all easily detectable. Getting a major chocolate milkshake vibe from this one. Taste is very sweet as expected, with the predominant flavours of chocolate, cream, malty caramel and muscavado sugar all contributing to this. There’s also a somewhat unexpected bitter side to the taste as well, coming off the dark malts and a bit of black coffee, which balances things nicely and prevents this one from becoming too one-dimensional. Long finish with cereal and especially nuts in the aftertaste. Body is perhaps a little thinner than it could have been though the creamy texture and minimal carbonation still make for the smooth experience you expect from these sorts of brews. Definitely impressive overall, and perhaps setting the standard for what a good sweet stout should be.

Excellent sweet milk chocolate stout with an almost chocolate milk level of "childhood evocation power." The kind of beer you can give just about anyone and have them enjoying life.

550ml bottle from Melbourn Bros Stamford. Deep almost black with a big tan head. Aroma has lots of chocolate. The taste has this too, and is almost like those creamy chocolate liqures. But not as sweet.

Pours with about 1/2 finger of tan, mottled head, which dissipates quickly to a film. No apparent bubbles. Dark mahogany color, light just gets through. Vanilla, butterscotch, cocoa, tobacco aroma, with cherry and roasted malt too. Primarily a sweet taste, with just a hint of sour and a little bitter in the finish. Medium body and carbonation. A lovely beer - why do I want to have a Manhattan now?
