Brewed with well water (the original well, sunk in 1758, is still in use with the hard well water being drawn from 85 feet underground), the gently roasted organic cocoa extract impart a delicious, smooth and creamy character, with inviting deep flavours and a delightful finish - this is a marriage of satisfying stout and luxurious chocolate.

Cocoa and a little nut in the aroma. Flavor is chocolate cake batter with just a tiny bit of cocoa bitterness in the finish. Wow--this is more like hot chocolate than beer. Exactly as promised--a truly outstanding dessert beer.

550ml bottle from LCBO. Pour dark reddish brown with a nice thick tan head. Chocolat, chocolat and chocolat with roasted chestnuts. Taste, more chocolat, sweet nuts and small note of coffee. Medium body, oily and creamy texture, low bitterness and long sweet finish. Very nice beer in its style.

Super chocolaty. Hints of vanilla. Made me want to throw a scoop of ice cream in it for dessert

50 cl bottle from private import. Pours dark brown/black with brown head. Cocoa and vanilla aroma with milk chocolate taste. Loads of vanilla and cocoa through out.

Deep dark brown body, with seemingly rocky tan head, which disappears after 10mins. Very strong aroma of cocoa and chocolate. Very strong cocoa sweetness dominates your tongue, some roast and aciditiy. Chocolate drink rather than actual stout. It seems really good when you try it, but gets really tiresome somewhere in half (550ml bottle), to the point when itís hardly drinkable., strongly recommend to split the bottle and serve as a dessert.

Aroma: 7/10. Acrid, cocoa, malt, a hint of ash. Appearance: 5/5. Pours a cola brown-black with a lingering mocha head. Would score this 4/5 but awarding a bonus point for that label; itís really a beautiful label, the current photo just doesnít do it justice. Taste: 7/10. Yup, Chocolate! Overpoweringly sweet, like chocolate syrup, with a gentle balancing sourness and a richness to the cocoa finish that reminds me of a mug of hot chocolate. Palate: 4/5. Smooth, silky across the tongue and teeth, only a very gentle astringency. Overall: 15/20. Itís a good beer, but too sweet for me (and I donít think Iíve EVER said that about a stout before, wow!). Could definitely use more cocoa and less sweetness to the brew, but that aside, itís a lovely example of itís kind, and certainly better than any other chocolate stout Iíve had before.

On the back of other chocolate stouts (brooklyn, brewdog) Iíve got to say I was disappointed. Too sweet for me. And the taste of chocolate was very heavy and too dominant. Iíd perfer more subtlety.

550ml bottle from the beerhive. Pours deep dark brown, thin beige head. Aromas of chocolate and little else. Cocoa powder. Maybe a little rum. Taste is all chocolate. Bit thin on the finish.
