COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Pasteurised
A full-bodied lager with lots of malt and hop character. A touch hoppier than many lagers yet perfectly balanced with lots of fruity hop character and fragrance.

Sweet malty aroma. Nice Victorian pint bottle, good persistant rafting foam, darkish dun colored beer. Cidery, malty, with a bit of a tart caste. Palate was a bit watery, and the aftertaste a bit clingy. Needs work.

(Mar2003--550mL bottle purchased from "Safe"way) Thick head, partially receding, active carbonation, no lace. Clear golden color. Considerable acetaldehyde (green apple) presence. Not particularly crisp, feels a bit thin and lifeless. Little to no hop presence.

Has a light amber color with moderate carbonation and light malt smell. Taste is a pretty balanced malt/hop combo that finishes moderately bitter. Overall not a bad lager, but it is nothing special.

UPDATED: NOV 22, 2003 Well about the best a 'lager' is going to be as its handled by the masters at Sam Smiths but remember its still a lager. A good beer for sure, but at $4 a bottle I will pass on the lager. Give me an oatmeal stout instead

Frank (2865) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 11, 2003
Sweet nose with a hint of tart apple. Bright golden color with a slight haze of very fine particles. Diminishing head leaves just a few spots of lace. Malty sweetness dominates flavor with a whisper of tartness. Brisk carbonation. Medium bodied and perfectly smooth (as a lager should be). Short, lightly bitter finish. A top quality lager beer.

UPDATED: JUN 20, 2007 Appealing bubbly golden color with staying head. The nose is citricly sweet. It has sweet malt cereal tastes with an emphasis on the sweetness in the finish. Excellent lager beer, but not as good as their traditional lager, which is one of my favorites.

Nose of fresh cereal malt and a hint of spicy hops. Pours a cloudy honey amber with floating mothers. The huge creamy light off-white head is fully lasting with tremendous lacing. The sweet flavor has no acidity and finishes lightly toasted. The light, creamy and soft body is exceptionally smooth.

Pleasant and full-bodied lager, slightly above average. Still, nothing special so why settle for this when Sam. Smith brews so many other interesting beers?

A golden beer with an OK head. The aroma is light with notes of malt. The flavor is nice with a good malt and very bitter - like a czech pilsener. All in all an average pilsener - OK but nothing special.

Golden color with a thick heavy off white head. A lager with a english malts and hops. Lacks crispness of what a lager should be. An english ale with lager yeast.
