2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Clear yellow with healthy white foam. Aroma is invitingly grassy. Taste is mild grassy, some sweetness. Bitterness remains after the swallow. A nice beer, but nothing special.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
sweet hoppy aroma, standard lager appearance, very well balanced, deep malt flavours to begin with followed by a sharp hoppy aftertaste, typical SS feel of quality, best lager ever tasted, marvelous

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Smooth and creamy. Malts were full of a nice sweet caramel, great hop balance. Short to medium dry finish.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Got this in a Health Food Co-op - didn't know what to expect.
Pleasantly surprised. Malty aroma - thick pillowy white head,
with decent lacing. Cloudy, light orange appearance. Yeasty flavor, that is a tad"off" -but not unpleasant. Stays strong throughout. Not as good as their regular lager,
but a nice novelty.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Nice golden beer with a good aroma. Somewhat malty with hints of fruit. Good malt and hops that finishes tartly. A good beer.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sweet malty aroma. Nice Victorian pint bottle, good persistant rafting foam, darkish dun colored beer. Cidery, malty, with a bit of a tart caste. Palate was a bit watery, and the aftertaste a bit clingy. Needs work.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
(Mar2003--550mL bottle purchased from "Safe"way)
Thick head, partially receding, active carbonation, no lace.
Clear golden color.
Considerable acetaldehyde (green apple) presence.
Not particularly crisp, feels a bit thin and lifeless. Little to no

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Has a light amber color with moderate carbonation and light malt smell. Taste is a pretty balanced malt/hop combo that finishes moderately bitter. Overall not a bad lager, but it is nothing special.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: NOV 22, 2003 Well about the best a 'lager' is going to be as its handled by the masters at Sam Smiths but remember its still a lager. A good beer for sure, but at $4 a bottle I will pass on the lager. Give me an oatmeal stout instead

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sweet nose with a hint of tart apple. Bright golden color with a slight haze of very fine particles. Diminishing head leaves just a few spots of lace. Malty sweetness dominates flavor with a whisper of tartness. Brisk carbonation. Medium bodied and perfectly smooth (as a lager should be). Short, lightly bitter finish. A top quality lager beer.
