Also known as Organic Strawberry Handcrafted Fruit Ale
The small and historical Melbourn Bros. Brewery is located in Stamford, Lincolnshire - a region famous for excellent fruit. The Samuel Smith’s Organic Fruit Beers are brewed and fermented there, then transferred to Samuel Smith’s Brewery, in Tadcaster, for conditioning, aging, and packaging. The complex multiple yeast strains used to ferment these beers lead to a beautiful marriage with pure, rich Certified Organic fruit. Tasting notes: Strawberries offer a soft and subtle flavour, making the character of this fruit beer extremely sophisticated and refined. The smooth malt and aromatic strawberry flavours merge together in an elegant fashion, with the fresh flavours of ripe strawberries shining through.

In bottle, a bit of a gusher. Pours a golden colour with a white head that dies away. Aroma of strawberries and Werther’s original caramels. Similar flavours, a little sweet, with some lemony tang and very mild bitterness. Heavy carbonation, a little CO2 prickle and a foamy mouth-feel. Not bad.

Bottle from Galeria Kaufhof, Alexanderplatz, Berlin. GUSHER! *cleaning up sticky mess* In the glass, it appears to be a slightly pink-hued orange body with a small white head. Aroma is sweet sticky strawberry jam tones and...*sniffing*...no, not much else. The sticky strawberries hide everything else. Taste is no better: strawberry jam (of the cheap supermarket kind with 80% sugar), molasses and hints of grassy hops, almost detectable in the back. Completely overrated, one-dimensional and waaay too sweet for its own good.

Bottle. Pours cloudy orange with a light fluffy head. Strawberry aroma. Strawberry, grass and cream taste. Sweet finish with no bitterness at all. Taste a lot like campino sweets but not in a bad way.

Better than melvilles. Sweet strawberry nose, amber beer, little bitterness ad malt character.

Bottle:   Reddish amber, slight pink hue, moderate to large frothy white head, spotty lacing, lively carbonation.   Candyish fruity nose, much like that Mamba Strawberry candy.   I haven’t seen it in a while, but the waxy fake fruitiness is almost spot on.   While great in a candy, in a beer is a little suspicious.   Sweet on the tongue, not overly done.   Heavy berry like, moreso like Strawberry as the name assumes but also a mixture of other berries.   Decent malt base, lingering berry sweetness.   No doubt about it, this is a fruit beer and not as fake as others. &nbs Granted, I compare everything to New Glarus these days, but in this case Dan doesn’t do a Strawberry beer.   As it is, falvorful, sweet, very minor tartness, but also has a fake candyishness to it.   Is that even a word?   Aroma and flavor are a bit above par, body and mouthfeel are average.   Didn’t expect this one to be too heavy, but you never know.   As it is, decent, but probably more of a novelty than a beer.   Glad I had a chance to try it tho. &bnsp Great on a hot *pre* summer day.   Not sure what I would drink this one with.   Perhaps a nice salad?   Thanks Craig!

The beer pours to a reddish-hued golden body with a creamy off-white head. The aroma is strawberries, but has some odd girly like perfume laden soap. The flavor is definitely strawberries. Still has a light blonde ale character. Sort of like Welch’s strawberry soda with a light beer. The palate has a long lingering sweetness that also reminds me of drinking strawberry soda. Medium sweet body.
