COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Pasteurised.
Golden colour, floral bouquet and light flavour of newly mowed hay.

Brewed with great care using only malted barley, hops, medium-soft water and a bottom-fermenting yeast; matured at low temperatures to bring out its delicate flavour and soft hop-character finish.

The cold maturation period allows the bottom-fermenting yeasts to secondary ferment and improve the lager’s flavour, purity and condition.

Appearance: 2"+ fluffy white head recedes slowly. Moderate lacing and moderate carbonation. Color is straw and mostly clear. Aroma: smell is of fruity hops (almost a grape/raisin aroma), yeasty bread, and lightly toasted malts. Mouthfeel: light and slightly sticky. Finishes crisp, dry, and refreshing. Flavor: nicely balanced lager with sweet malts holding forth but enough floral hops to even it out. Overall: I can’t find anything to criticize about this beer. Excellent and enjoyable.

From a really old rating note I found while packing up my house for a move: Flowery hop aroma. Clean light gold pour. Crisp malts and grains. Nice drinkable lager. 7.2

Rather ordinary Pale Lager, luckely not bad though. Poured in a nice big glass with somewhat thick texture.

UPDATED: MAY 5, 2013 Tasted 23/4/2013 draught "Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese", London. Poured a clear pale golden colour with a one-finger white foamy head that laced poorly. Moderate to high carbonation with lots of small bubbles forming trails. Aroma slightly of sweet malt. Taste of sweet malt followed by earthy hops - no real bitterness. Light body. Smooth with a sweet light finish.

Rare cask version @ Sinclair’s Oyster bar in Manchester. Unexciting lager but tasty enough with a very clean and smooth taste.

550 ml bottle, poured into an english pint glass. ABV 5% Clear golden yellow colour on the body, white soapy head on top, nice two fingers tall. Good retention, little lacing on the glass. Aroma of grass, hay and a bit of apple juice. Taste is sweet, malts, again some apples, and grass. Medium thin body, good carbonation. Pretty good beer.

550ml bottle into a Samuel Smith nonic. Pours a clear straw yellow with a billowy two finger head that very quickly fizzles away to a very thin cap. Abundant carbonation keeps the little foam around for awhile though. Aroma of bready grain along with some soft noble hops. Not very strong but subtle and soft. A tiny bit of orange and lemon zest as well. The flavor provides lots of bread with grassy/floral hops along with a hint of biscuit. Very typical for the style but this feels just a little more refined than some cheaper versions. Soft, clean mouthfeel with a nice crisp finish. Overall, a decent, quaffable beer but not worth the steep price it commands. I would much rather drink a Baltika 3.
