UPDATED: JUL 18, 2007 Wow! A superb lager brewed where you’d least expect it. Superior head. Beautiful grainy aroma followed by a wonderfully smooth malt, classic lager flavor. Highly recommended.

Light apply-pear aroma. The head is perhaps the best I’ve had - tastes like a fresh Roma apple. It’s even like drinking an apple. I could have this beer again and again and again...

This is another nice lager with a full, malty body and nice hop qualities. It is deep gold with a fairly big, permanent white head that leaves a little lace. The aroma is lightly toasted malty grain, crackers, sweet, flowery hops, with hitns of pine and sulphur. The taste is full-bodied grain through to the finish, with hop herb and grass flavour that starts with light bitterness, but after a few sips evolves into a nice, tingly herbal bitterness that smoothly blends with the malt body.

As a lager should be. No surprises. Great to enjoy during the summer.

Nice aroma with a crisp follow thru. I haven’t found a Sam Smith that didn’t like yet.

UPDATED: MAR 25, 2011 Although somewhat subdued, the aroma of this beer is quite pleasing, and a bit sweet for a lager. For its category, the color is directly on target-a light but thoroughly rich golden with an ample white head. This beer is quite refreshing, with detectable floral notes and an occasional citrus insinuation in addition to a more refined "grainy" quality than what is typically found in most lagers. The consistency is pretty standard, not too heavy, really more on the light side, but not at all watery. For what it is, Samuel Smith Pure Brewed Lager handily hits all of its marks and is profoundly underrated and unrecognized.
