On tap @ the Cramond Inn. Pours golden to amber with a decent head. The nose has honey and hay. The taste has honey and cornflakes then citrus. Predominantly malty in body and texture. Medium bodied well balanced with a good texture and finish. Overall nice bitter on the light end.

Cask@Swan and Three Signets, Durham. Golden beer with a strong white head. The aroma is yeasty and bitter, and the flavour is bitter with yeasty and roasted qualities. Overall a reasonable but basic bitter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Keg at The Three Goats Heads, Oxford. Amber with fizzed head. Sweet, malty thin beer with a wet cardboard flavour. Served over cold which delays aroma and flavours coming through. Probably a good thing.

Cask pint at the Chandos, London. Gorgeous appearance, a bright light orange with a thin, filmy head. Nose is soft and dry but with a hint of fruitiness that transforms unexpectedly into a mild tartness in the taste. Earthy and satisfying.

Golden head with a thick creamy white head, although a diluted bitterness for its taste.

Keg at The Cramond Inn. Brown and that. Over chilled. Muted aroma. Some fruity malt flavours eventually and a touch of roasted malt. Textbook.

This is decent enough stuff. Not a particularly strong taste but refreshing and easy to drink. I get through plenty of these at The Wellington in York when I am there. It’s definitely my Samuel Smith’s offering of choice.
