Keg at The Cramond Inn. Brown and that. Over chilled. Muted aroma. Some fruity malt flavours eventually and a touch of roasted malt. Textbook.

This is decent enough stuff. Not a particularly strong taste but refreshing and easy to drink. I get through plenty of these at The Wellington in York when I am there. It’s definitely my Samuel Smith’s offering of choice.

Keg @ The Princess Louise. Light golden color with a big, creamy head. The nose is fleeting sweet apples and light caramel, the aroma dissipates with alarming speed. I was left wondering whether I had simply imagined that the beer had an aroma. The taste is watery light malt, some caramel and more red apple. Very subdued in the flavor department. Not much to write about, really. The body’s thin. The carbonation pronounced. Overall, by far the worst of Sam Smith’s bitters. Far behind the actually decent Old Brewery...

not very good. really quite a thin palate with little going on in the malt or hop departments. a little bitterness in the finish is all there is to write home about.

Keg @ Cramond Inn, Edinburgh
Amber, clear, bubbly thin dense head
Aroma of light cereal hops, light malt.
Taste of light biscuity malt, bit of weetabix, light toffee, not great, bit metallic
Palate - medium carb, thin body. Finish of biscuity malt and quite metallic finish
Overall - Quite metallic here - worth a re-rate..... certainly below average today

4.1% light amber colour with a good head, slight hop aroma, sweet bitter taste, not as good as the Old Brewery Bitter.

Keg. The Hansom Cab, York. Medium white head. Golden body. Excellent lacing. Fruity, hoppy, citric, perfumey, spicy, peppery. Bittersweet. Dry finish. creamy mouthfeel. How Stones Bitter ought to taste I imagine.
