3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Medium offwhite head. Hazy orange body. Intense peachy alcoholic toffee aroma with barnyard notes. Very round and delicate. Dry-sweet alcoholic earthy toffee oranges and peach taste with malty grassy notes. Full-bodied. Rounded, sharpish mouthfeel. Dry-acidic resiny earthy toffee aftertaste with notes of oranges. Outstanding. A barley wine that’s subtle and non-obvious. (0.18l bottle shared by gr0ve.)

UPDATED: JAN 24, 2010 Bottled, BB November 2007, sampled 2010. Malty nose, medicinal. Very sweet flavor, medicinal again, bit cloying. Lasting sweet finish. I like barley wines in general, although this may not be the best example.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Darker amber coloured beer with no carbonation and a very small white head. Strong aroma, madeira malty hints and slightly alcholic touched. Full, fruity and creamy palate. Finish is strong alcholic, wharming with a medium ending, but not bad for a barley wine.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
A friend brought this small bottle back from Europe which I thought was very cool as I have been a Samuel Smith fan since before becoming a beer advocate. I do have to note that the bottle lists "seaweed finings" as an ingredient. WTF? Anyway, the appearance was the best part of this beer. It was a clear golden-ruby color with about twelve bubbles clinging to the sides of the glass. It looked great. Unfortunately it smelled like hot alcohol. The taste was mostly alcohol along with a "Sam Smith" taste that I find in all their beers. This beer actually got worse as it warmed. I expected more out of Samuel Smith but I was still happy to have had this beer.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Flaske: Gylden er øllen ikke, men stærk går dog an. Brunlig med en udmærket karbonering. Vinøse toner er der men de forsvinder hurtigt. Underlig svag øl i forhold til stil og procenter.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
(BBE 11/08) Dark amber colored with little light brown head. Toffee-chocolaty aroma with nice vanilla-vinous touch, sweet raisins with thin alcohol, good one. Medium to full bodied. Flavor is drier with well developed raisinny and vinous tone, aftertaste turns to vinous and dry with lemon, thin alcohol also comes up. I like this.
