There is a somewhat loose but very big tan head on the top. I normally don’t mention it but for whatever it’s worth this has one of my all time favorite beer labels. Aroma has a nice chocolate, roasty, and raisin character with sort of an odd chemical thing going on in the back ground. The flavor is wonderful packed with coca some mild coffee, a deep roastiness almost to the point of burnt and more featuring more bitterness than usually profiled in this style. Classic but different. Very good. terrybail (334), London, Ontario, Canada

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 7, 2009 Bottle (500ml). Poured extremely dark brown (virtually black) with a small, dense, lightly tanned rocky head which lasted well. Aroma was of toasted malts with dark chocolate, earthy hops, coffee, blackberries, light notes of horse blanket and a touch of vanilla. Flavor was of chocolate malts with a mild lactic sourness, toast, black coffee, light earthy notes, hints of blueberries and a dry finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation, a dry/toasty mouthfeel, almost chewy texture and a good length finish. HenrikSoegaard (4322), Randers, Denmark
