Even though this is a good porter, I was slightly dissapointed by it. Nice cocoa powder smell, good roasted flavors and well balanced, but the flavors here could stand to be kicked up a few notches. Light coffee and chocolate notes as well.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
One of the best porters I've had. Very chocolaty and heavily roasted flavor. More drinkable than the Oatmeal Stout. Not too bitter, but it lacks the silky texture and creamy head that I love in Anchor Porter. Always a fun choice to pick up. Cheers!

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pitch-black in color with a nice tan head, chocolate & coffee in the nose, lots of roasted & burnt flavors, quite malty, more like a stout than a porter though, very smooth & drinkable

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours black with fine carbonation, fine, tight, slightly brown head. Aroma of chocolate, with a hint of coffee and some sweetness. Taste of black malt and some quite harsh bitterness. Enjoyable enough, but more stout-like than expected.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
I really love those bottles, quite big (550 ml) and provided with all that info on the back (the belgians can learn from that). Anyway, the beer itself. Very dark brown, medium lasting brown head. Malts and liquorice in aroma, a bit lactic perhaps (like the oatmeal stout). Malty and roasted flavour, bitter finish. I'm not really familiar with the style, but imo this one is quite stout-like for a porter (in contrast to the Fullers London Porter). Good, but not great.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled. Black body with a brown bubbly head. Liquorice and toasted oak aroma. Bitter start to it then the roasted and burnt derivates flavours come rushing through in reasonable harmony. Medium length with astringency noticeable on the sides of the mouth. Good enough for me.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma was a little nutty and a hint of liquorice. Appearance was well black yeah looked good with a good head and some lacing. Dry with hints of coffee & chocolate. Found the flavour profile was fantastically balanced but seemed to diminish by half way through.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Wonderful black color with a brilliant thick head. The aroma speaks of sweet maltiness, very similar to the oatmeal stout. Flavor profile is also quite similar, though it's a bit more dry. One of the few porters I really rave about

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
pours with medium-sized tan head. Opaque black with ample carbonization. Fruity esters from that yummy Yorkshire-stone yeast in the aroma, with malty and chocolate notes. Roasted flavors, too, with a bit of astringency in the aftertaste. Not as full or creamy in mouthfeel as I would like.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark color, large frothy head. Aroma is roasted malts, bit coffee and licorice. Bitter taste of roasted barley, little coffee and cherry. Quite creamy texture, with a sharp roasted hint. Bitter smooth palate.
