Very dark not quite opaque. Medium light oak colored head. Aroma is first of wine, some roasting comes out with warming. Taste is also winelike, not much roasted malt, coffee, or chocolate. Sour, bad bottle? Whatever it is I did not care for this.

Sam Smith made a great porter. This Taddy Porter is so smooth and creamy. It had what I thought to have a burnt wood smell to it, although it was the dark roasted malt that was used in the beer. It has a long lingering aftertaste that will haunt your taste buds until you drink another wonderful Taddy Porter. Drink It and become Zen or become drunk.

Bottled: Is dark red/brown coloured. Has a huge impressive head, that last long. Aroma is sweet, malty, roasted and spicy. Hints of alcahol and coffee. Flavour is roasty and coffeish. Is vaguely flowery in the taste as well. Very delicious. Has a balanced bitterness. The brew last very long on the palate. This is a very good porter.

You can't go wrong with any of the Sammuel Smith lineup. The price is the only drawback with this beer.

I am not a fan of beer that has an overpowering, strong coffee taste to it and this beer however was to my liking because it did not have an overpowering coffee taste to it in my opinion. This beer went down smooth and easy.

UPDATED: JUN 4, 2003 This brew has an aroma of alcohol in it. When poured, it yielded a very energetic light brown head of large bubbles that formed a very nice lacing as it receded down the side of my glass with a dark ruby brown almost opaque body. It looks delicious as I anticipate my first taste. I am not disappointed. Initially it had a very smooth taste then the roasted malt coffee finish hits. Not a strong coffee taste mind you but there none-the-less. Still it was very smooth and much to my liking.

Has a dark brown color with moderate carbonation and a roasted malt/coffee smell. Taste roasted malt/coffe and finishes slightly bitter, but like JK said, it does have a bit of sourness. Overall I did not like this porter that much. It is not horrible, but there are much better ones on the market.

Black with a brown head. Roasted aroma. Roasted taste with coffee and a little chocolate. Brief finish with some bitterness. Thick. Unfortunately some sourness, maybe due to the clear bottle.
