flatmatt (221), Northville, Michigan, USA Aug 19, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours black with a medium fizzy head that quickly dissipates to a ring. Aromas of sweet dark fruits, roasted coffee, a little chocolate, and some definite alcohol. Flavors of roasty coffee and chocolate, with just a touch of brown sugar and dark fruits. Fairly nice porter, maybe just a touch weak as far as palate goes. Blom (390), Odense, Denmark Aug 18, 2008 Black with a good brown head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, liqueur. Restrained flavour of roasted malts, chocolate and liquorice.
BeerEssential (96), Massachusetts, USA Aug 17, 2008 Pours an almost opaque black with a tan head. Mouthfeel is light, with a very roasted flavour, but no bitter aftertaste, which makes it easygoing with many meals. Very nice. The Etruscan (304), Tuscany, Italy Aug 17, 2008 Weak foamy light brown colour. Black colour. Aroma is malty with licorice and a hint of raisins notes. Flavor is malty too with coffee tones, ending in a moderately roasty finish. Light bodied. jrmac (210), USA Aug 16, 2008 Pour is dark brown with a tan head. On the nose caramel and malt. Taste like caramel espresso, with a nice touch of malt and bitterness to balance this beer out. Maybe a bit too thin for the style. MaltDawg (778), Richmond, Virginia, USA Aug 15, 2008 Nice roast malt aroma. Clear amber brown with small white head. Deep roast and chocolate malt flavor with some brown sugar, molasses notes and slight grain astringency. Light body with fairly high carbonation. Very dry slightly bitter finish. Solid - very tasty beer. TaxiDriver (908), Stadland, Germany Aug 10, 2008 Bottle. Light sweet smell of chocolate, a little bit of liquor and mocha. Large brown foamy head, quite long lasting. The body is black. Light bitter taste, long duration. Flat carbonation, a very creamy texture and a full body. A very good beer! Underhook (162), Lincoln Park, New Jersey, USA Aug 10, 2008 Very, very good brew. Pours black, motor oil style, smells of toasted coffee. Dark, toasted flavor, super creamy palate. A meal of a beer. Great winter brew, will definitely revisit this in the colder months.
