Aug 25, 2007 Bottle, August 2007. Opaque, deep black color with some ruby hues and a nice, medium, creamy, brown tan head. Nice, nutty coffeish, chocolate flavor with an acidic twist and a bitter chocolate ending. Some cocoa and tobacco notes. Mouthfeel is medium to light, comforting and really drinkable. Moreish with a pleasant aftertaste. Raisins, fruit, cake aroma. Not up to pa with the rest of the beer. Excellent, enjoyable, solid and drinkable porter.

Aug 25, 2007 Pours a very dark clear brown with a dark brown head. Lots of chocolaty malty flavor. Both sew and tart. A really nice porter

Aug 21, 2007 Hard to believe that I haven’t rated this before. Pours dark brown, with a thick, thick khaki head. The aroma is a nice blend of malt and hops, with coffee and vanilla as well. Tart, and a bit bitter. Sweet and light bodied as well. Finishes clean.

Aug 20, 2007 Updated: Sep 28, 2008Poured from a bomber. Poured a nice black color with a thin tan head. Hard to pick anything specific out in the aroma, but that may be because I served it too cold. As it warmed hints of chocolate came out in the nose. The tast matches with chocolate, some roasted malts, and nuts. Mouthfeel is quite good. I enjoyed it much more as it warmed up a bit and more flavors started coming out.

Aug 20, 2007 Opaque blood red with a sizeable tan velvety foam top, moderate lacing. Aroma of alcohol, espresso, cherry, dark chocolate, and tobacco. Miniscule bubbles. Tastes of coffee, chocolate, hazelnuts, slight vanilla, caramel. Warm. Thick. A good porter for those chilly evenings.

Aug 19, 2007 Updated: Dec 28, 2008Black with a medium sized off-white head. Aroma has molasses, caramel and fruit with only hints of really dark roastiness. Roast malt, licorice, sweetish and well balanced flavour. Intensely dark, yet no burned notes.

Aug 18, 2007 Dark molasses....brown with a brown sugar head.....mmmmm smells like easter in a glass, after cherries and alcohol were added of course....molasses and toffee, melted into bakers chocolate....then I enjoy...enjoy the feel and taste as well....finish is lingering, and I anxiously await the next sip and sips

Aug 17, 2007 very unique and flavorful porter. Nicely blends many flavors into a strong but not singularly overpowering taste. Very repeatable beverage and another classic Samuel Smith.
