It was a deep, deep ruby-brown, just about black, with a pretty but short-lived chocolate-colored head. It had a strong roasted, smoky, maybe even oaky, aroma. Sweet hints of coffee and chocolate bolstered the malt taste. Again, this is an outstanding porter. venom04 (15), West Virginia, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 11, 2007 Poured a dark brown with a decent size tan head. The aroma had me thinking that this wasn’t gonig to be that great. It had some dark malt in there, but something else that just didn’t smell right. The taste was fantastic. Sweet dark malt, some chocolate and a hint of coffee and caramel. A better aroma would have made this so much better. Still a very good brew. Goodgrief (1148), Middletown, Delaware, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 6, 2007 This is a fantastic porter...amazingly complex. At first it seemed a bit thin to my liking...but got way better as I went along (as it warmed, I guess). This is one of the beers that even to my untrained tastebuds, I can detect a change in taste as I drink. The roasted malt and chocolate flavor hits you right away...then there is a distinct fruitiness that the reviews seem to differ on what it is (I swear it tasted like apple to me), but it was good...and then the coffee taste at the end. This was a darned good beer and worth seeking out. Plus, "Taddy Porter" is just a cool name. tangentrider (144), USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 16/20 | Aug 1, 2007 Pours a dark brown with red highlights and a thin creamy tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, caramel, burnt toast, kind of sweet as well. Coffee and mocha in the taste and a slight sourness as well. Softly carbonated with a mild bitter finish. Not as good as I remembered. stefanje (938), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 31, 2007 550 ml bottle. Pours a near opaque bark brown with just a slight hint of red. Head was tan and ample and dissapated very slowly. Aroma was light with sweet roasted malts, chestnuts, and coffee. Flavors noted are of black licorice, coffee, a touch of bitter chocolate and some earthy dirt. Hops were modest in an effective supporting role. Mouthfeel is a bit thin up front, but then fills out to a satisfying fullness on close. Finish was long and cloying with a bit of a sticky film. Overall this is a very respectable beer.
